anyone hear of Izea or PayPerPost?

I was watching Daily Buzz on CW earlier this week and there was this segment on the show from Izea.com. Its an internet pay per post blog site. I was looking into it and started to sign up, but then it asked for my SS# for tax purposes. I understand some sites actually do a w-9 form as I currently do a paid-to-click site that requires it and that is valid. BUT, I know that's validity because an ex-coworker of mine did it and referred me to it. SOOOOOO, really, what I want to know is a) how do you know if a site is real or fraudulent and b) do anyone you know of Izea or PayPerPost.com?
