I work in a new company that is primarily headed by foreigners. They work with us and they give us tasks and stuff. I think it's cool that I'm learning from experienced people but sometimes I find the cultural differences a barrier. Sometimes I feel like they think they've given me instructions, while I interpreted the whole conversation as a statement rather than a request or a command.

Hi Oyenkai,
My boss is a American, but he speaks fluent chinese, this skill makes him famous in our town. Although he can speaks good chinese, but still, as you say, culture different makes the conversation get harder sometimes. Because i communicate with him in Chinese all the time, my spoken english get worse! Poor me.

Hello oyenkai
The boss of my first job after I graduated from college is a British, I think he is a person full of sense of humour, he cared his staff so much, he didn't stay in my country so often, I normally met him once a month. But everytime I saw him, he was so nice and willing to teach me new stuff, and I like the cultural differences between us, as he liked to praise our performance instead of judging what we had done badly/not prefectly.
The boss of my last job is a American lived in England, he is a old gentleman, Jack Nicholson and he are very much alike. He always stated very clear what I should do and corrected me immediately after he thought I missed his points. He is a easy person to work with too.

I used to work for call centers and my bosses were foreign nationals. There were times they would tell some things of their country and about their culture as well. I like to learn new things so I like being surrounded by some foreign bosses.

Hello cotton0821
Wow, you worked for a boss for that long period of time, friends of mine like to change job frequently, and the longest time I worked for a company was about 4 years, my last company was closed so I lost my job, otherwise I could have worked for my boss even longer.

Hi.
I never thought that there can be so much of difference of culture, specially when you are working in the same field. Anyway if you are learning your craft and they are paying you well then there shouldn't be any complains and even if you do have differences, My advice is to stick with them till the market gets back to same reliable heights.

Hello oyenkai. I don't have a foreign boss, but I have quite a few foreign colleagues every year. Usually they work for one year and then they move to somewhere else to work for the purpose of learning more about our country. I love working with my foreign colleagues and have made friends with them. I have learned a lot from them from daily conversations and work. It is a nice experience of mine.
Take care, friend.

Well that is interesting. Well, you will just have to adjust considering the cultural differences. Obviously the environment in the workplace is quite different from the standard setting. I hope that you do enjoy your work and have a great working relationship with your boss. In my case, I have not been under any foreigner with respect to work. Though when I had my trainings for rescue, my instructors were foreigners.

Well recently I have also started working. However my Boss is not a foreigner. He is of my nationality only. Well many a times cultural differences form a barrier that's very true.
You won't believe my manager is so sly and kinda strict that he is not approachable. I or rather many of us get really scared to talk to the boss if something goes wrong. Half of the time you would find him taunting as well. Gets really frustrating at times.

what you have said does happen. happened to me as well. the bosses or collegues who wish to speak to someone who speaks a different language should take care while they speak. for example they should speak slow, utter clear words and should make sure they use the easy vocabulary in thier speech

I worked for american when i was working abroad... and the language barrier can really be difficult... especially when the English they use is quite different from what we are used to... there are certain sentences and words i used that they are not familiar to and vice versa... but the experience of working for them is a good on...
My current boss is a true blue conservative Filipino...
