The low down on the tobacco tax

Well I finally talked to someone that knows the deal on the tobacco tax increase. The federal tax increase was 10% and the first of the month the State tax will increase by 6%. The smokers are being ripped off big time by the wholesalers and retailers. I was buying my little cigars for about $8.50 a carton. The 10% increase would only amount to about $.85. Instead a carton of them now is almost $30. They should be a little over $9. This is bull $hit plain and simple. Starting tomorrow I am going to see if I can't inform some people in the right places about what is going on. I am sick and tired of every con man that comes along trying to rip us off. Art

Be glad you dont smoke Marlboro, they went up 8$ a carton before any other brand. They have now increased from 34$ a carton to 49.91 a carton and get this the sign says before tax! I have yet to buy a carton in Arkansas since the tax increase. I am getting mine from another state and trying very hard to quit. Keep us posted on what you find out, but I am afraid we are in a no win situation. Thanks for fighting the good fight!

All this started around here over in the eastern edge of Oklahoma. They went up a couple of weeks before they did in Arkansas. Now about the time I think I have it figured out By daughter buys my brand in Arkansas that is only 10% higher than they were the first of the year. And.....The lady that sold them to her said that is all any of them should have increased. Something just doesn't stack up and I am going to try to find out what it is. Art
