Earning Online: How many have been successful?

I'll create a scenario, at the moment you're earning enough from your online activities. Equivalent to what you earn in your daytime job. But we all know that online earnings are not stable. Would you quit your job to work online? Are there many out there who have sustained their good earnings online? Or should one not leave the regular stable job, no matter what? Do contribute to this discussion.

Hi! Jen! I feel it is very difficult to earn on-line like a regular job. It requires lots and lots of efforts to 'earn' through on-line activities and one needs to spend considerable time in front of computers to earn a handsome amount. I do feel that one should leave his job for the sake of on-line earnings, it does not seem a feasible and a sane idea to me.

Yes, it is exactly I am thinking about who would leave job for online earnings. But I think 1 out of million person would do brilliant job to earn huge amount of money via internet, and some have shown us that they really make good money.

all depends on what your online goals are as far as making money goes if you are just doing it to supplement your existing income. if maybe you are doing it as a primary income then your earning goals would have to be significantly higher. it all depends what your are doing to try to make money online whether its sites like this one or maybe selling on ebay or something like that i have had some good months selling in the past especially around the holidays.

This is a very timely question for me, Jenaisle. I quit my job last Sept 2008 because the management offered a voluntary resignation. Unfortunately, our company felt the effect of global financial crisis very badly. I did my best to make money online through blogging and other means. If the word successful mean that I am earning, then I am successful. However, I must admit that it is by far not sufficient to survive a family. We are running a very small business offline, but it does not help that much especially when my wife and daughter were hospitalized last January due to Dengue fever. Actually, I am planning to slowdown online (blogging) and applying for a job right now. Anyway, my blogs will still survive somehow even if I will not promote them regularly. But of course, the earnings will be lesser. I am always saying this, never give up a permanent job in exchange to make money online. Not unless the online earnings are more than your current pay. Furthermore, always have alternative plans and NOT just one. Now, can I consider myself successful as an online money maker? Yes, but only partially if there's such a thing.

There are many ways of earning online. My articles posted in Helum and Associated Content are earning passive income. As long as people read my articles and as long as these 2 sites continue to pay, the articles will continue to produce income. Right now the earnings are not great, AC pays $1.50 per 1000 page views. As with all business, the starting phase is slow and painful. The earnings may never match my full time salary. But earnings online does not retirement age, unlike full time employment. Not many companies like to hire people who are 50 years old and above. The cost of insurance is very high for the company.

I am a retired person and therefore i do not have any income except from what i get as dividends from my fixed deposits which though not very much , are still enough to make a living. What i earn online is not enough, merely pocket money and therefore i would not call it an income. However i would not advise anyone to rely on online jobs as most are scams but rather hold on to their regular work which brings a steady salary even if it is not enough. In these hard times a job in hand is worth its weight in gold, infact a goldmine since thousands have lost their jobs and are struggling to make a living.

That's a very good scenario and question. Here is what I would do and am planning to do: Wait until I've accumulated AT LEAST $200,000 from online/work/anywhere combined TOTAL. Then, I would not quit my job but work a LOT less hours, probably 2 days a week (8 hours each), I would then purchase a condo with $100,000 and that would eliminate my BIGGEST expense: RENT. Everything else would be covered by my 2 days at work per week. That way, you will keep a good chunk of your lump sum money and it will gradually increase every year with your 2 days a week at work. Simple and perfect.

It is hard to find an online job that can exceed or be an equivalent to an offline job. I work online and I do earn around $200 a month. If I have an offline job or a real job I would not quit my job. I still prefer to work outside than to work online.

I certainly don't earn enough on-line to keep me. Fortunately I have a reasonable pension for my retirement years, so what I earn online is just pin money, and I just do what I love doing. If I was younger and in a stable job, I think I'd be foolish to give it up for online earnings. But sometimes, If your worklife is really getting you down, you just have to do what you have to do, and trust the world to provide what you need.

If I was to be working, and doing online earning, I don't think I would leave my job at all. It means that I would be earning double the money. At the moment I would like to earn $100 per month. It would help pay at least 2 of my monthly bills.

Nope, I will not quit my full-time work in exchange of my online stint. At the moment my earnings online cannot even buy me one sack of rice. I'm just doing all these because I enjoy writing and mingling with other people online. I learn a lot of things in here, most especially in Mylot. Then, I also maintain my blog. I hope my blog will bring me good renvenue in due time.

I do not think that quiting from a job just for online job would be a good idea. Online job can make extra income for us but not replace the regular stable job. We all have commitments in life and its better to have a fixed income stream. Online job can be a part time job to earn something that can assist us to achieve our luxuries dream life Regards Thanusha

making extra money online is considered a bonus, it's nice but I wouldn't want to quit my full-time job. I've just started trying to make money online and so far I've yet to see any result. It's not as easy as it sounds.

it is not wise to leave your day job even if you have earned an earnest amount online. it is better if you make your online earnings on the side and let it be your savings investment. on the contrary, online business can be quite stable. you just have to know what to really want to do or the kind of online business you are ging to get into.

I am not earning that much online that I could leave my daytime job. My online earnings is just an extra income for me just now. I would never be able to rely on my online earnings at all.

I earn my entire income by working online. I'm a freelance writer and have been for 6 years. I earn more money now by working at home than I used to earn in my day job at a bank.
