Are you a spelling Nazi?

I am! I have absolutely no problem admitting it either. I can't stand reading articles in magazines and seeing spelling errors, or in blogs like this. For some reason, to me, horrible spelling is like nails on a chalkboard. Seeing somebody mix up lose and loose, eek, or spelling a lot as alot. I've always been a pretty good speller, and I admit I make errors sometimes, but most of the time if I'm unsure of a word I will look it up. I can understand when it comes to some of the bigger, more difficult words it can be hard to really know how to spell it, but seeing so many people these days completely screw up basic simple words really irks me. Anyone else with me on this?

It is interesting what you say, but I have to tell you that around the globe there are so many people who have learned English, and as such to them it is really different, and we all should appreciate their effort. My mother's language is also not English, but I try, actually I work using English language, and the customers do not really mind my spelling mistakes if I make any as they need my help. By the way I'm just learning dutch, and as they are in a way close to each other with English, this causes me sometimes some more spelling mistakes, just as an example book and boek pronounced the same means the same, just the first is English the second is Dutch.

I'm not referring to those that English does not come naturally to, it's understandable for someone who is coming from a different country who has known another language from birth to make mistakes when they are working with a new language. What I'm talking about it the people who have written and spoken English as their primary language from the very beginning. By the way I commend you and your mother for taking the time to learn other languages!
