hey this is a very interesting concept to start a cricket quiz on mylot as there are many cricket lovers on mylot. and your question to start off the quiz is very interesting as well. i have heard of this name before.certainly of someone australian definitely sounds australian.i think it was the nickname of former australian skipper steve waugh,brother of mark waugh.

Yes absloutely Correct. It's Dennis AMISS of England. He even holds the distinction of making Helmets famous in the Cricket. Always he used to wear helmet while batting. In the era where batsmen seldom bothered to wear helmets while playing, he made it popular.
