A friend of mine and I went out Saturday night to go see the new Fast and Furious movie. Good movie.
But as always, there is always one woman who brings her child into the theater. My friend and I saw a late movie (9:45) so it wasn't like we went at 1 in the afternoon. The kid stayed quiet for a while, but with about an hour left to go, he starts crying wanting to go home. Mama starts shusshing him and tells him to play with his 'babbee' or go to sleep on the theater floor(!). He quiets down. About 10 minutes later, he starts wailing that he's tired. Mama again shushes him and tells him to go to sleep. Repeat this scene about every 5 minutes until a patron goes and gets an usher to have the woman removed from the theater.
She throws a fit and of course, interrupts the movie for everyone else because she claims she bought a ticket fair and square and she and her 4 year old have every right to be there.
I'm sorry, but I think she's wrong. I've got an 11 month old. There is no WAY I'd bring her to a theater to begin with, let alone to a movie that starts at 945 at night. Secondly, even if my DD was that child's age, I still wouldn't bring her to an adult movie at 9:45 at night. I just don't understand how parents think that the rules apply to everyone BUT them because their child is such an angel or whatever.
Have you ever brought your child to an adult movie? Did he or she act up? Have you ever been in a movie where a child spoiled it for you by crying or talking loudly? What did you do? Did you complain to the management?
I understand that movies like Hanna Montanna are geared towards younger children and therefore, those types of movies are exempt from this discussion. But movies such as Fast and Furious and Terminator 3 are what I'm talking about.

My son did not go to his first movie till he was about 2 1/2. He could not handle sitting in the theater, so he did not stay in the theater. It was a kids movie in the daytime by the way.
My daughter is 2 1/2 and she has never been to the movies because I really don't think she could sit still and be quiet for the whole thing. I would never take her to an adult movie in the day or at night.
