I am wishing to promote my new freelance writing blog and have already submitted it to the search engines. Now I am wanting to post it to a few blog directories but am unsure of which ones to use. Normally with blogs I just post information, create one back link on xomba, or ezine articles and let the traffic come from there.
Which of the blog directories would you recommend?

a good one is http://www.addingblogs.com You can add your website to the directory for free and then you can also post stuff on their site and you'll get more views to your website from them. try them out!

Thanks for this. I shall visit this site and add one of my blogs to see how it does. A little extra traffic will help me

The ones that require reciprocal links or are nofollow are pretty much useless.
However, you can submit your feeds to lots and lots and lots of places. Friendfeed is a good one, so is Mixx. I don't think digg is dofollow anymore. Just do "submit your rss feed" search and tons will come up - a lot are garbage but you find some good ones in there too. If you get a friendfeed account let me know and I will add your feed(s) to my list if you add some of mine to yours :) Send me a pm if you want to do that - i don't always get back to discussions.

I never knew there was so much work involved in blogging! I can't manage all that stuff. I am going to have to get on Twitter or something to inform people of all my posting activity.

I use condron.us . Here you submit our blog into the blogroll. You can submit your blog twice for a day. When you submit your blog it gets in the top of the blogrollof that category. It is kinda' interesting and attracts traffic. The only problem is thatyou don't get a real traffic as a visitor staysonly 5 seconds on your blog.
All the best,
Robert
