Combine Family or extended family are better. At least responsibility can be divided among members.

Combined or joint living arrangement has existed in countries all over the world for centuries. The people in the West are just recently accepting the possiblities of co-existing with another family or others of the same family. It has many advantages. Look at this example: a family consisting of a man , his wife and children, living in the same house as his sister , her husband and her children. The house is large enough for each family to have separate living quarters, like 1 apartments in 1 house, only sharing the kitchen. Each has their own separate entrance. Now the men work outside the home. Both women are housewifes/students. When 1 woman goes to school the other keeps her children and vice versa. Sometimes they share the cooking making it easy on the other. The household bills [rent, electricity, water,] are split between the 2 families making it a lighter load on each one. All the children are cared for by their own mother or their aunt, not a stranger or someone they don't know well in a daycare center. Now, would you say it has advantages?

Yes, it has its advantages. You have mentioned the advantages of having an extended or nuclear or joint living family.
1. You can ask your relative to take care of the kids while you are gone
2. You have someone to share the utility bills.
3. There is always someone left at home when all the men in the house go to work.
4. Since each family has separate quarters, it means that each family has there own privacy.
thanks.
