Not directly, but I've moved out of the way for an emergency vehicle.
That was fun. It was a VERY risky move across a six-lane highway. I was at a red light, and the car directly behind me? A sirening ambulance. I realize I probably could've killed somebody - or myself, for that matter - but the moment I didn't see anybody, I floored it. I ran this red light and let the ambulance get around me.
I felt my heart drop through my throat as I asked myself several questions - "What if I was blind? What if I missed a car that's coming from some other angle? What if this is really illegal? Will I get ticketed? What lane is the ambulance trying to get to?"
but at the same time, it made me feel like that really long red light could have saved somebody's life. It sometimes only takes an extra two minutes of no help to choke on something or stop breathing or lose enough blood. I don't really know what the emergency was - hey, I'll never know - but I really hope that the minute-and-a-half that I shaved off of that traffic light saved somebody.
Always move out of the way for emergency vehicles. :)
