birthday celebration

My widowed will be 80 years old soon. I realized that we have not celebrated her birthday as a family since she lives in our province while we, the children with our own families, are living in far places.I told my siblings that we should start preparing to celebrate her birthday which means arranging vacation leaves and travel dates.
Could you suggest activities we can do to make her birthday a very happy occassion for her and us?

Have you thought of doing a themed party? Perhaps ask her what one of her favorite memories is and try to recreate that memory. Or what about something that she wanted for her birthday when she was a little girl and didn't get. Take some time and search E-bay and some of the other internet sites and see if you can find it for her.
