I wish we could get a cat but my husband is allergic to them and really does not like cats. We have a dog and she is really pretty good. Barks occassionally, when the door bell rings but doesn't carry on. The only time she is annoying is when we are going to take her to the park and she gets so excited, but that is just before we go. She rarely barks otherwise. It is bad when the owner does not control the dogs or leave them out side barking. We used to have neighbors behind us that used to leave their barking dogs outside for the longest time with no control, it was so annoying to hear them constantly barking. We love our dog and she is so sweet and lovable.

MY guys very seldom bark and when they do, they have a reason, a stranger at the door or an odd noise.
I love my dogs, they are my friends, they welcome me when I come home and cuddle with me at night. My cats did that only when they were ready, my dogs are always ready.
I vote for dogs...but the right kind

I hate it when people compare cats and dogs, it's very unfair on both.
They are very different animals and each has their advantages and disadvantages.
My dog only barks at certain times and at least shuts up when told, my cats yowl, meow, and even growl but I've yet to manage to train one to shut up! lol.
As for cats being lovely, that depends on the nature of the particular cat, one of mine is tiny, very cute but a real beast who is just as likely to bite you as she is to give you a cuddle! I still love her though!

Either pet is nice to have, it depends on your situation. When I was a child and played outside, a dog was nice to play with. Now that I'm an adult, I prefer cats because they don't expect me to play with them. Dogs seem to demand more attention from us than cats.

Hi there!
Both are equally lovable and adorable that is why we can keep them at home. Actually sometimes the nature of the animals depends on the owner. If the owner knows how to share affection to their pets they would be tamed. I live both animals, actually I can't choose between the two. I am just not that patient with their litter though. LOL

Sound wise...I dunno...one our cats can be noisier than our dog. It's soooo annoying. I guess that would depend on their personality. We've just trained our dog not to bark as much as dogs usually do. But it's quite harder to train a cat.

Hello rocketsky ,I only kept a very cute cats ,and years ago ,the ten-year-old cat deceased when I am not at home ,I am so grief-stricken because I didn't company with him at the last time of him . My cats has brought me a host of joys and also grife !
Making a strong contrst with the dog I think cats are more meek and submissive than dogs ,I also agree with you that cats a really cute and lovely ! But I prefer to believe dog are more likely been see as the best freiends of human than all pets, because dog is more loyal,a dog won't abandon their masters no matter how poor and how week he is ,moreover a dog has a capability not only understand the human word but emotions !So more people are inclined to build a keen relationship with dogs

Some people are dog people, and some people are cat people, and then there are others who are dog people AND cat people!!! My husband and I are both cat people. We have a cat, and we love him to bits. if we had a bigger place and more money, we'd get a basket full of kittens, and raise them all, keeping each one for ourselves. We'd love a house full of kittens.

I love both cats and dogs. But if I had only one choice I could make between the two I would choose a cat. Cats are quiet animals and independent. They are fun to play with. They can take care of themselves. They are just a really nice animal to have. A dog as you say does have a tendency to bark and I have run across dogs that bark at anything.

I like both cats and dogs, myself, as I have had both. I believe I like dogs better because they are friendlier. To each his own, though.
If you think all dogs are noisy, I used to have an Alaskan Malamute and she was pretty quiet. She wouldn't bark unless there was a reason for it. Kathy.
