Is the freelance writing industry affected by the recession?How?

The professional side of the freelance writing industry has actually gotten busier since the recession. Companies are now outsourcing to professional freelance writers instead of paying in-house writers to do the same work. I know my own freelance business has almost tripled since they began reporting all the doom and gloom on the TV about the recession. My clients are ordering more and more work, I've gotten so many more magazine assignments and I'm even starting to outsource some articles to other professional freelance writers I know just so I can keep up with the amount of work that's coming in.
