The moment I thought my dream had come true... ...

It was not a nice dream either, you see I had dreamt that my three year old daughter had been abducted, from right under my nose. It was so real, so frighteningly real that it woke me up, I desperately wanted to get back into the dream to make it have a happy ending it was awful.
Anyway with the dream still fresh in my mind, the next morning I took my daughter shopping with me to our local supermarket. We went round getting the things I wanted when suddenly I realised my daughter had gone quiet, I looked around and she had gone!!! Assuming that she had gone to the toy section I quickly headed there to find her, only when I got there she was not there! I dumped my shopping and the pushchair and went around every aisle looking for her but there was no sign, I shouted her name, nothing. My hubbys cousin who worked in the shop noticed my distress and I asked him if he had seen her, he said no and went off to look.
In the end I had the whole of the shop looking for her! A heartstopping five minutes passed before my hubbys cousin came back with her trailing behind him, she had taken herself off to the other side of the shop where they had placed toys by the entrance I have never been so relieved in my whole life. But it was a cruel reminder of my dream and the fact that it could have easily come true, from now on she will not be leaving my side even if I have to put a wrist holder on her because maybe the whole thing was a warning.
Has anyone else ever lost their child in any place?
Have you ever had any dreams that have turned out to be a premonition of something to come?

That is really sad, your friends mum must have gone through hell and back over the years poor woman. Your daughter sounds like she has her head screwed on right anyway and I am really glad that she managed to get out of that situation.

Hi gemini,
I can imagine how scary is that for a mother..I have dreams once in a while that I thought it's real..Like when I dreamt like I am falling in the stairs or whatever and all of a sudden I will wake up with a painful body and I was in the floor already!

I have never had this happen, and I thank God that it hasn't. I panic when my head count is off, and I only have the two children! Whenever they are playing outside, and I am out there with them, I stop every few minutes to get my head count. If I can't go "One, two" within a few seconds, my breathing goes short, and I am no good until I can find the other head.
I just remembered, I had an instance when I didn't know where my son was. My children's father had to leave for school before I got home. He left our son with a trusted friend, but neglected to tell me which one. I got home, and he and my son were nowhere to be found. I knocked on a door of another friend that we would usually leave our child with, but he hadn't gone to her that day. I called the school, wishing to speak to him. The dean answers the phone, and tells me that they wouldn't bring him to the phone unless it was an emergency. I "towned" on the dean "I don't know where my son is, don't you consider that an emergency?!?" He still didn't bring him to the phone.
Luckily, the friend came back to my house about an hour later to bring our son back to me. I was no more good. I hope that neither of my children are ever actually lost.

It is the worst feeling in the world when for those few moments you dont know where a child is. I was so glad when she was found, but my heart goes out to those whose children have gone missing and not found straightaway because I was only in that position for a few moments and that was enough.

Oh Gemimi, That must have been so frightening for you and I am so pleased she was found quite quickly and safe and well. Every parents nightmare rather than a dream. Dreams I have had many and some that have been very precognitive, the most recent one I can remember is my younger daughter being in danger and a blast and then waking up, later that day I took my little son, who was still at nursery rather than school to nursery and as I kissed him goodbye I felt an urge to ask for exta protection for my children and prayed in my head there and then for it, five minutes later a nail bomb went off in Exeter which was where my daughter was and luckily for all the only person that was injured was the terrorist himself! I always listen t what I am being told. Another incident was when a neighbour bought a car and I said to them not to take passengers and I would never ride in the car as I had a bad feeling, they knocked the door to say I was right (they are used to my crazy rantings at times LOL) as a lorry had hit a tree bringing a large branch down onto their car on the passenger side, phew, lucky escape eh! the car has now been scrapped and they have a new one. Huggles to you. Ellie :D

I was pleased too after dreaming like that, I still feel it was a warning to me somehow but hopefully not a bad warning. Seems like you have some strange dreams too, and some that are scarily accurate!

I've lost each of my kids at least once. Well, not the baby yet, but I'll lose him eventually. Just a few weeks ago I lost the toddler at the store. He went off to another aisle to get one of our treats we normally get. I let him pick them out himself to make him feel like a big boy, so then he got in the habit of running off to that aisle to make sure we get them, even if I'm not near it yet. I knew where he was headed, and he knew where I was, so I didn't think much of it at first. But then he didn't return, and I went looking for him and couldn't find him. Then the front desk was calling for me... somehow he made it all the way up front. Well, I think someone saw him and thought he was lost even when he wasn't, so they took him up front. Oh well, I learned not to take my eyes off him no matter how comfortable I feel about where he is!

My boys were always scared of their own shadows when they were little and never left my side! She is just so different, she heads for the toys but she must have remembered seeing them by the entrance and that is where she went the little monkey!

I haven't had dreams like that but wanted to share a recent scary experience. My son is two and is learning new things everyday. Some of the things he learns are just scary. Well i was visiting my fiance and was in the bathroom. My son was watching cartoons. He usually can sit there by himself and watch it so i thought going to the bathroom two minutes tops would be fine. I came out of the bathroom and didn't hear him. Went into the living room and the door was wide open. I forgot to lock it knowing he knows how to open it. I ran into the yard looking and didn't see him. I kept turning circles trying to see where he went. I looked about a hundred yards and the end of the yard he was on the school bus my fiance's mom drives. I was so freaked out. We make sure to lock the door now every time we are there. Its scary when you dont know where your child is.

Wow!! This would not be a good feeling to have at all, and I do not Blame you for getting worried, and scared. I know I would have been panicking as well. Personally I would think your Best defense from now on is to definately keep an eye on her at all times as with all of the weird things happening these days it is truly best to be safe than Sorry for sure.

What a horrible experience...and following your dream, I can just imagine the fear you experienced. I've been having strange dreams for some time now but nothing like that. A few have been disturbing but not so true to life as yours was. I wonder if it was a premonition that you had. Stranger things have happened.
It's wonderful that kids have no fear but a sad fact of life that we have to teach them to be afraid due to all the dangers so prevalent in today's society.

OH honey I can totally understand yourself - I have had those type of dreams myself and my youngest was teh worlds worst for escaping and disappearing - she just loved to explore and to hide aso you can guess how many panicked scares I have had! Just last week my daughter (7) and her foster cousin (10) who was staying with us for a few days went to the park - I tried calling them but her phone went unanswered and since my other half was on way home form work text and asked him to get them as he passed park. He came home and said they weren;t there and I panicked as he would have had to drive past them to get home - turns out they had been climbing UP the chute which is a metal tube and that is why he hadn't seen them! I thought i was going to have a heart attack!xx

It sounds as if your dream was very realistic, long and active. I had a in-laws daughter who had premonitions through dreams. She dreamt the school caught fire and it did. Several other things happened that she had dreamt of. I wish she would dreamed about the premarital affair my husband ended up having but we can't have everything can we? And with the neighbor as well.

Hi gemini_rose..I lived in this house once that had a hole drilled where a pump would drain. The hole was attached to a drainage thing...but anyway..the hole...at the time my youngest was only 2 or 3..little..and I had this dream she fell in this hole and sunk..in the dream I was trying to get her out and plunging my arms in the hole but could only brush her fingertips..it was horrible. I was so afraid I would never let her go downstairs. One early evening I was cooking dinner and the children were playing in the livingroom. I went to call them to eat and my little one was gone..I checked all throughout the house calling her name..outside..oh my god..is she downstairs? I was frantic by this point and rushed down with memories of my dream flashing through my head and just before I stuck my hands in the hole of water..my oldest girl yelled..MOM! She's fell asleep under her bed......SHEWWWWW...what a relief..I was so scared. There she was curled up with her little bear just under her bed. It was terrifying. I was so relieved I almost cried.

I haven't experienced a dream like this but reading your post made me think of my own 4 yr old. I'm so happy that you've found her and that she was fine. You may want to spend some time talking to your daughter about strangers and what to do if she gets lost. Also, when you take her places such as the supermarket, make her your helper..just chit chatting about this and that - it makes the process of whatever you're doing a lot longer but you keep her attention and you may not have to worry about her wandering off. That has worked for me. Again, I'm so glad you got your daughter back safe and sound - thank god for dreams!

So weirdly it seems as if you had a premonition of what was going to happen. Of course in the real situation she wasn't taken by anyone, but she did dissappear for a little while. So glad that she is alright. My daughter is almost 6 months and I can't wait for her to start walking...but at the same time I'm also afraid that I'll loose her. Us moms and dads almost have to have 2 or 3 sets of eyes to keep track!!!
