Which Aspect Of Travelling Entices You?

Plenty of people say they love to travel, but what part of it do you love the most? Seeing famous landmarks? Learning new languages? Experiencing new cultures and religions? Trying new foods? Do you prefer trekking, camping, or five-star stays with room service? And what about getting there? Boat, plane, train, some other way? Do you love the airport, love the flying, enjoy the view from the train? Do you take a thousand snapshots or relax with a good book? Do you take guided tours or just wander the streets? Is packing exciting? Soaking up the sunshine on a beach somewhere?
I think about travel all the time, but for me there's a very different reason to most people (well, I think so). I long to be free of my everyday life. My daily life is content. I'm not unhappy, but to me nothing matches the thrill of undoing the tick-tock of a clock and letting all responsibility go.
So, what about you?

I am not fond of packing or any of the preliminaires. But I start learning about the place if I donĀ“t know it, or planning what I will do if I know it.
As for what I do when I get there, I like to be by myself (no guided tours), talking to people in the streets, relaxing and reading.

Sounds like my kind of holiday. There are only a few friends I would want to holiday with, because the rest would either hate doing "nothing" or would always want to do things I had no interest in! I also love just walking the streets and reading. But my favourite part is airports and planes. I know, I know, I'm crazy...

From a young age I really had the wish to go off traveling as soon as possible. I wanted to go to different countries to see the varied landscapes. I visited France as a child and when I was a teenager saved up to do more traveling.
My every day life is fine but traveling is always more exciting. I like to meet the local people and find out about the culture. I enjoy seeing the native wildlife. I adore spending time on tropical islands that have palm fringed beaches. I am fond of exploring interesting cities that have attractive looking architecture.
I pack my luggage which is a backpack around a week before my trip. I am an independent traveler. When I was younger liked staying in backpacker hostels and these days I tend to stay in locally owned guest houses. I fly to get faraway quickly although my favorite way to travel is by train. I always take loads of photos.
Travel is my top hobby.
