For those who are familiar with the Transformers of the 80s

I grew up in the 80s, and one of the greatest series ever was the Transformers: Optimus, Rodamus, etc! I have the original movie, and soundtrack! Nothing could compare! I loved the comics, and my fave was the story about Starscream and The Underbase, which was like wow! I also read the Generation 2 books. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one insulted with the 'new generation.' I've seen some the cartoons. What was *totally lame* was in the episode I's watching, when they were shooting the guns, they were making "gun noises" (like little kids who immiatate gun fire). In one of the cartoons, Ironhide was made into a young teen, or at least young man! And how they made the humans into such a main role! They were supporting characters, even the Witwickies. Which is why I had such a huge issue with the new movie. It was "boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl meet out of this world crazies!" The Transformers were regulated to supporting cast! IMO, if they would have done a pure remake of The REAL Transformers (who wouldn't want to see Unicron???), it would have kicked @$$! So, for those that grew up loving the Transformers of the 80s, how do you feel about the 'new breed?' Do you dislike them so changing them? Or do you think the new stuff's cool?

My son got the Transformers: The Game for PS2 for his birthday. I had to check it out to see what all the hype was about. I was amazed at the graphics but it just didn't feel like the old school Transformers. If you are a true fan and like Kevin Smith films then check out Clerks 2; one of the kids that works at the burger joint is all about Transformers (and LoTR) and Randall gets on him about it every chance he can. While I was impressed with the video game, as I said, it wasn't the Transformers I remember.
