Why are you working? Is it for you or for your family?

Somebody asked me before, "why are you working?" I said, to earn, to save for my future kids, for my family and to enjoy life when i retire. Then he said, Your 60 when you retire, so you can do limited things because your too old. And then he also said, what if you die before you reach 60 or what if you you become crippled that you cannot do anything. He also said, for your family but do you think your family will be with you always, like your kids. Then he said, why not enjoy your life now. What about you, why are you working? Is it for you or for your family?

I don't think of what will happen in future. Where I will be. Whether my family will be with me or not. I work because I love to work. I can't sit and waste time. Life is very fragile. None can predict the next thing which is going to happen. My family has supported me and I will support them till I am alive. aAyone can tell me if their kids are going to be with him for the rest of his life with certainity. I don't think so. Human beings are born with an objective to work for the betterment and uplifment of the society.

I'm working so that I can save enough to fulfill my filmmaking/novel writing dream and as well as to help myself and my family retire early (I'm 24). I hear you about the 60 year old issue. I'm trying to get AT LEAST $200,000 by the time I'm 30, my girl and I have $20,000 combined right now with savings and checking. Plus I'm doing all this stuff online so... ya know.

Mostly , I work for me, to save money for a house of my own, for a car because I'm so tired of walking every day, for more education, and to be ready for everything the future prepares for me. And also I must have some pocket money for Friday night..lol!. Let me tell you a secret ,I think I work just to waste time in a creative way...I think I would get bored if I wouldn't work. And I have a great job, I love it, I have a lot of fun. Nothing compares with a good laugh with your colleagues that keeps 8 hours a day.

I am working to pay bills simply put. But even if I did not have bills I would still want to do what I do in healthcare to help others, even parttime becuase I enjoy working and helping people and I know that every little extra $$$ wise is helpful. Plus, hard work keeps people honest. I plan on traveling alot when I retire as long as I am healthy that is. But I do know I still will have to work parttime at least, unless SS is gone by then. Who knows I might have to work until the grave. Oh well, I'll just grin and bear it.

Hello! I work for me and my family. I need to work to earn money so that we can have something to buy what we need like foods, clothing, education for my kid, etc. Nobody else would provide for us. I also need to work, so that sometime we can have money to relax and do something that is enjoyable for all of us. Happy mylotting

He gave you a really good advice but a job is a must because of many things unless you got a hobby that you really enjoy. Right now I'm unemployed and I can't do anything when it's a day time. I wanted to find a job but failed and now it's economical crises and it'seven harder to find a job so I started to study from home just to have something to do when everyone else is studying or working. I belive that a job is a must because when 90% of your friends are working or studying, you will get bored from sitting at home all the time but if you have a hobby like singing in a band, I think you can survive without any job or school :)

evry married ones would underline the fact that purpose of why they i simply because they'd to raise the family.....they are sometimes boggled by the responsibility & that why the family comes in as the first priority in the list of things.....iam appreciating the fact the life needs to be lived lively..... the mood of sombre mustnt be felt..& this can happen only when you enjoy every little second of your & understand its genuine purpose.......

Hi,charlenmendoza! Well,I am still a student.I am not working while I am studying now.I think they are the same.I try my best to work hard for many things. For my family of course is the basic reason, but the most important is for my dream.I want to do many things when I am able to do that.Since they all need a lot of money,I must earn much or I cannot let my dreams come true.In my opinion, enjoy oneself doesn't mean to relax,or do something like this.If you are working for your family ,then seeing your family members are all happy is the most exciting enjoyment for you.If you are working for your dreams, then I thing just think about your dream is becoming more and more excutable with your hard work will be the most pleasing thing to you. So,what are you working for is not that important, what really matters is that you are really working for something and you know what you are woring for. And,as I have said, woring and enjoying yourslf can coexist.Like me,I'm studying for my dreams, for my familys and knowing that I am working for what I value most is really a enjoyment for me! Have a nice day!

I agree with him, we must enjoy our lives now to the fullest because it is as short and fast as the wind blowing in our face. So I'm working to achieve my goals, many goals in the future and that includes enjoying my life later on after i have worked a lot. Although there are responsibilities that are along you're way, you must not forget that we only got one life to live and for no reasons we will not be able to live again another chance in our world.

This question reminds me of someone that i met during my job interview long ago. I couldn't forget since she had lighten me up and uplift me during those times that i was about to give up. She said that i should believe in myself and that the only main reason we are applying for a job or looking for a work is because we need it to support ourselves and our family. Well of course i believe her as i do believe what she says. We work , for us to support our daily needs and to survive in life. That's how life is. Personally right now i work to support myself and my family. Have a nice day!

I think the person who asks you this question is very stupid. If a person really becomes crippled before retirement, all the more so he needs money to live on. If he cannot work, he has to rely on his savings. That person asks what happen if you die before the age of 60. The fear of most people is living too long. What happen if live till 90 years old? From the age of 20 to 60, most people work the entire 40 years, and has to live for another 20 to 30 years. If a person chooses to enjoy life and not work, what can he live on? Where does the money come from?

I work for myself and for my family. For now, i haven't married yet and the only family i have is my mother (my father had passed away 20 years ago, left me alone with my mother). So, i will earn a living for myself and my mother. She is the best, and i want to make her happy from now and then. But, when i get married one day, i will work for my family also. If they are happy i will happy too.

Like most people I need to work to earn for my family and for me. But I don't see myself without working. Felt very badly when I was unumployed, even receiving a reasonable contribution from the unemployment fund. I think work is a basic need for every human beeing, like breathing or eating.

I am working just for my family, when i was young,i admired those adults who can earn much money, and do what they want to do,buy what they want to buy,at that time,i hope i can grow up quickly, but how time flies, now i can earn money by myself, sometimes,i think by myself, why i am working? Now,i think i am working just for myself and my family,i want to lead a happy life and let my parents have a comfortable life,so i will work hard more and more.
