Why is Mylot so different then other social websites?

Besides the fact they they pay you a small amount of money daily for posting quality content.. I have been here at Mylot for a little bit over a year and yet I have not made one single good friend here, I oddly get 1-2 friend request within a 3 month period here on Mylot as well. But on Youtube & Myspace I get new friend request daily and nice friendly people sending me messages & comments all the time on Myspace and Youtube. Then I come to Mylot and I hear crickets and I'm surprised when somebody replies to a comment I make here..LOL.. Even on Facebook ( which I never use ) people send me messages and friend request weekly. Mylot is so different! But I suspect that most people are here to earn money then meet & make new friends, which I kinda understand. Or perhaps I'm judged here more harshly for some unknown reason that I'm not even aware of (just speculating).. What makes Mylot much different then other social websites? Are things a lot different for you here at Mylot then at other websites as well?

Awww-I'm sorry to hear you haven't made too many good friends here. Actually it's the opposite for me. I rarely get friend requests at Facebook, MySpace, but do here, but then I've been here a heck of a lot longer (yikes three years)--going to PM you
I'm actually in contact with a lot of friends here by private email. I find MyLot a whole lot better to mingle with people cause you can really interact with people better than at Facebook, MySpace (least my opinion)--and forget Twitter. I joined there and can't figure that one out...LOL

Well of course you have many friends here. You have the coolest black cat avatar pic ever!, hehe.. And true, you have been here longer then the average MyLot user. Whats weird for me is that I have spent more time on Mylot then Myspace within the last 8 months and I can't even get some of my myspace friends to get busy and active here. I guess they are all independently wealthy and couldn't use an extra $10 or more a month that MyLot can provide...I sent you my Myspace URL just now. It would be great to have you as a friend on Myspace as well

Oh I agree, mylot pay's on time, which is awesome but I just think it odd that a good sum of mylot members are only here for money, not friendship.I guess I'm not use to being involved with a website that has members that value money over friendship. It's like only marrying somebody because they have a big fat bank account and not because you love them. That's just my opinion though..

I would say that you probably joined this site when there was a bit of turbulence going on. There have been ups and downs but I've tried to avoid them, with some success. However, there are a lot of good, people, including friends of mine who have gone from here for whatever reason, and only a few have returned.
I've been with Mylot for three years now, and initially, I made a lot of very sweet friends. We always looked out for each others' discussions and even chatted in PM from time to time. They did and still do leave comments on my profile page when they didn't see me around, and we were like one big happy family. But, the wheel turns... things happen and some of those friends leave the site and move on. I, personally, love it here. Apart from my own social networking site, which I try to keep private and free of agitation, this is my favourite site. I belong to Facebook, and other sites, but none hold the magic of Mylot, even with its ups and downs. I think I'm here for life, if the powers that be allow me to be, so if you're looking for a friend, I would like very much to join your friends list and have sent you a request. By the way... I can't get on with MySpace... it doesn't like my computer! lol.
Brightest Blessings.

I have never had any use for any of those social networking sites. How I came to MyLot was because I was doing some research on the difference between 'blackstrap' molasses and 'regular' molasses and one of the articles I came across was written by someone who wrote so humorously that I read a few of her articles, and one of those was about MyLot.
I was intrigued and signed up under her referral link. Later on I decided that she was far too 'fear oriented' for my taste and deleted her from my friends list. I do not have such a trigger finger anymore when it comes to the delete button but I still am very particular about who's on my friends list, and for the most part I only keep those that I have interesting or funny exchanges with on my list.
I am no longer intrigued with MyLot though, I am bored. I have come to the conclusion that the majority of the human race are dull clods that I have no wish to associate with. I have made a few friends here though, a very few... especially when you take into consideration that the MyLot population is spread across a few continents! Those few friends have definitely made the experience worthwhile, and I have actually had some good fun here, so it has not been in vain. I even made 50 bucks once!
I don't know what you're complaining about though... your discussions receive WAY more response than mine do!

I wasn't talking about discussions zig zag, I was talking about making good friends here.(Sorry for the confusion there buddha babe) I have made some pretty good friends on other social networking sites and I find it odd that people here are not as friendly as myspace or facebook. So that lead me to believe that it's the money that brings people here. But a few people here have actually said they have made some good friends here which I find amazing and a good sign!... There just isn't as much action here as at the other sites, even with the discussions move so SLOW sometimes.. And I also noticed some people make their $10 and split after their first payment..Do I get more responses then you in discussions? I never have noticed but at the same time I only have 10 little discussions under my belt here on mylot. Sorry if it bothers you, it's totally not my intention to out discussion you, can you forgive me??..LOL

I realized after I posted this discussion that I meant to say " Surprised when people respond back in THEIR discussions" because I can reply to 20 discussions and only 1-2 out of 20 may respond back..LOL.. I keep hearing people here claim and praise the good friendships they have made here and I wonder if only a few demographic personality types attract certain types of friendships more so then others. I just find it different from form other social site's because this is the only site I'm a member of where I hardly ever get friend request or on going corresponding messages with people because I usually get a lot at the other websites I'm a member of.... And I have also noticed that you and another user are the only American's that has ever sent me a friend request here which I find odd because American's are the largest population here at mylot but at myspace and youtube 95% of my friend request are American's.These are only observations I have made, not judgments. I'll subscribe to your discussions threw email so I can keep tabs of your latest discussions, you shouldn't be left out of the madness.

Well, it depends on how you define friend I guess. Friendly isn't really on my list of prerequisites for a friend... 'unfriendly' people can actually make pretty interesting friends - and that is one of my main criteria for friends... I look for interesting and interested people. I have no interest in superficial, artificial, coddling, hand-holding relationships, virtual or otherwise.
And no, we are not in a competition, although I do not deny that I have a competitive nature. My point was that you had many responses to your discussions... I had mis-read the part where you said "I'm surprised when somebody replies to a comment I make here.." and thought you were saying that nobody responds to your discussions. I guess it was a little projection because I am always surprised when anybody responds to my discussions, hehehehe.

I hardly think anybody is here to make good friends. Even if one gets a friend request none bother to know each other over here. But the discussion part along with the extra income people get at mylot makes it different from other social websites... Everyday discussions, responses and comments make it quite interesting. Even when I am not earning much I am logining in here as it has become an addiction for me. This addiction part makes mylot different from other websites...
What do you say?

Oh wow. What did you do on youtube to get banned? .. Actually anymore it's easy to get banned on youtube, especially if you upload movie's and T.V. shows or even if you upload a music video's from V-H1 or MTV.Welcome to Mylot.. I hope you make some friends and some serious change $!

I think the design of Mylot is very friendly. And it has a good reputation because it does pay for you if you can reach the minimum payout. And the admin is very nice and will respond to your questions soon. Most people are friendly, here. I like it.
I love China

Well you know, maybe Mylot isn't that unfriendly..Perhaps it's friendly in a way that I'm not use to ( could I be wrong or right here).. This is a way different type of website then other social networking sites. But I still find it odd that every day on Myspace and facebook people are always leaving me comments and here nobody even ( or hardly)use's the comment section and some users even delete the comment box off their personal Mylot page.. ..kinda funny actually..LOL

Oh I like it here better then myspace as I never go there anymore. And here you have to be careful about the friends. I'm learning that. Some are collector of friends. And they never respond to what you ahve to say I try and at least show a effort to respond to my friends. I am finding it harder to do so the more friends I get but I still do it. But you have a good day. Your friend onlydia

For months I forgot about myspace because I got tired of certian people annoying me..LOL.. The people on my friends list here on Mylot don't bother me . I have never been spammed by any of my friends. I try to respond to my friends on mylot when I can. But sometimes I can't be on mylot if my computer is broke or when I'm in the hospital. I was very disappointed with a lot of my online friends recently because when I was away from the internet for 2 months ( I was suppose to take it easy in bed and heal after my surgery and it hurt to sit on my computer chair) then when I come back to myspace some people I thought were my good friends deleted me .. I guess they were out of Prozac that day or something..I'm too lazy to collect friends, I only like to add people who have interesting personalities and who seem nice here on mylot, but I'm not rude and deny friend request because I'm nice. Thank you Dia.

i can't answer this I do not belong to any other social sites. I don't expect close friendship from friends made on the internet.. But I have found some interesting people, that I would like to know better.

I have better offline friends then I do with online friendships. Agree, some people are interesting , but yet some are also snoozers. Also I find that people throw away friendships online more then they probably do in person. I think the reason for that some people take what people say online so literal and harshly judge somebody because of what they say or even judge a person unfairly for other reason's.

Mylot is different because you get paid for what you're doing and it's not really pointless being on here. I don't really like social networking sites because I see all of my friends basically everyday. That's why I use mylot most often because I can earn a little bit of extra money.

ahw. same for me. lol. i always get a lot of friend requests, testimonials and all that on facebook, friendster, multiply, and somehow on myspace. but here, it's just so different. maybe because some people were just here to help and not to indulge themselves from having a great friendship online. so we rather understand the way they are than be negative or something, right? so yeah. glad this one may help. thanks for the post.. :)

I haven't been here in myLot that long but I could say that the experience I'm having is quite different from the other social websites in a positive way.. Having said that, being a member of myLot gives me more freedom to interact to my fellow myLot users and gives me more opportunity to express myself by speaking my mind out with regard to the topics of my interests and those that I can relate to.

Yes, that's it. MyLot is different! But I don't feel the same freedom here as I do at my other social networking sites. Like if somebody makes you mad here everyone say's it's best to ignore it and turn the other cheek. On myspace is somebody makes me mad I can release my hell and fury on them without worrying if I will be banned or get money subtracted from my account..We have to play nice for the money here, which is understandable.. Can't bite the hand that feeds..

well, i'm not too sure about that for i dun belong to any other social networking sites, except for mylot.. lol =D I will rather be spending time in mylot because this is the place whereby i get to meet and know alot of new friends from around the world.. ON top of that, we know each other based on our interest as well as we have common topics.. hehe ^_^
As for other site like myspace or facebook etc, most of them only wanna make friends, just to boost the number of frenz they have, so that they are able to show off, how popular they are, when they themselves dun even know a handful of them.. lol =D

Hello Cassandralynn,
First of all, I have to disagree on the 'small' amount of money paid daily for posting quality content. I generally get 10-20 cents a day for posting on MyLot, and that's with only responding to a couple of discussions.
If you compare that to Triond, for example, which pays like a constipated slug, (unusual analogy, I know) you're making the equivalent of Bill Gates on a rampage. I was amazed when the money started rolling in; Triond will pay literally cent by cent, not necessarily dollar by dollar (if you're good at MyLot). Bukisa isn't great either.
Also, MyLot is different in that you RESPOND to topics and things like that. Money comes in faster than places where you submit articles and wait for comments. Sure, there are blogs and tasks, but from what I've seen it's mostly focused around discussions.
It is admittedly not as successful as Facebook or MySpace for example, but they're primarily run by teens with too much time on their hands. Facebook is great for connecting with friends, and I admittedly have more respect for Facebook than MySpace, but the overall audience are mostly teens.
I don't know why you're getting crickets, sorry about that (:D)...The most I can guarantee is that I'm not one of those people - I'll be happy to respond to anything you send me, as long as it's not excessive spam.
And don't worry, you're not alone as well- I have just started and am still getting the hang of MyLot, but I'll expand slowly but surely...
Apart from that, I think MyLot is great- it certainly blows Triond into the water, that's for sure (in terms of payment and activity).

sorry to hear that....u havent got good frnds over here...
But believe me, when i joined this site my solo motive was to earn money online, but after participating in 2-3 discussions I became so much attached to this site.
And I have got 6 frnd request right away within 4 days of making my account....
So its never late be dedicated to whatever you do and you will see good results yielding automatically....
