Is this classified as Ageism? Just because a person is older than the average fitness but doesn't mean to say that we are past it! I consider myself to be fitter than I have ever been - alot fitter than alot of people half my age and love paddling in an outrigger canoe. This can be classified as an extreme sport due to ocean conditions at times depending upon the location. I guess one could say that being in a 5 meter plus swell would be extreme. Jumping out of a support boat into the ocean to wait for the canoe which I then have to climb into while it is moving in the shortest time possible.. Yes bruising does happen. The adrenaline and the fact that you don't want to let your crew down gets you into that canoe. I love the challenge and pushing myself past my comfort zone during a big race. Its not for the faint hearted, it hurts! But awfully good for the soul.

I agree Rocketsky. I was unable to do much of anything for about 2 years when I had chronic fatigue several years ago and although if I push too hard I can have a relapse, I will never go back to that dark place again. It's a continual battle and I use exercise to help win the daily battle

No age is too old! In fact age has very little to do with it. Just be aware that as one ages one's reactions, strength and stamina tend never to be quite the same as when one was younger. If you keep fit and learn your limits there is no reason why you shouldn't keep participating in extreme sports. There are plenty who do!
