My husband is going to redo our computer room and it really needs to get done but I am dreading it because I have to go without a computer until the room is done. Its a very small room so it really shouldnt take to long but it depends on how much time he has to do it after work. How long have you ever had to go without a computer after using it routinely every day or nearly every day? I don't think I've gone a week without using the internet since my honeymoon where we were going for a week and I didn't have access to a computer. That was back in 2003. I have attached a picture of one spot in this computer room where you can see how in need of fixing up this room is. The walls are lath and plastered with wallpaper over it. The walls are crumbling. My husband is going to rip the lath and plaster down and put up sheetrock then paint it.

Whenever we have a storm we have to shut down the pc's and here recently we had days of storms. I caught up on my reading, did some things I've been putting off in the house and worked on some crafting projects. It is nice to have a few days off the net and it makes you appreciate it more when you get it back.

When it storms I shut down my computer to. The last bad storm we had actually like fried my computer some how. It was turned off when I went to bed. I got up in the morning and the computer was on but wouldnt start up. I had to have the computer repaired and it took 3 weeks until I got it back. When I thought I'd have to go a week without it omg I thought that was bad. It was horrible going 3 weeks without it. I never want to have to do that again lol.

i think you need to realise that the world doesnt revolve around a pc, iv gone a year without a pc and then when i did get a pc i didnt really use it. Its just a habit and sound like its become a addiction to you. Start a new hobby doing some sport read a good book or watch tv.

No the world does not stop turning just because I didnt have a computer at the time. But it was awful when my computer crashed and I had to go 3 weeks without a computer. I do a lot of things online for money and without my computer those 3 weeks I couldnt make any money. That was the hard part. My computer is also yes a bad addiction. While my computer was broken I texted a lot more from my phone then I usually do so I could keep in touch with people. I also read a lot more books then I normally would. It did give me a nice break but at the same time I was so mad that I didnt have my computer and couldnt stand going 3 weeks without it.

It's really hard to be out of routine... Why don't you engaged yourself outdoors. Chill, relax and have fun! But if computer is already part of daily routine, maybe you and your partner could move it to another room where you can use it. Happy mylotting!

Oh, my! That's hard. I know the feeling, we got so used with having a computer then suddenly not gonna have it even for a day? argh!
Why don't you guys move the computer to another room for a while?
For me, I really can't right now not to sit in front of a computer even for just one day. Whenever I travel and I don't have my computer with me, I signed up to logmein.com, it has a free service where you could access your computer as long as it's open.
So I usually just call back home to ask them to open my computer and I'll access it from where I am. It helps a lot especially I got files that are on my computer.
I wish you luck shaggin, I hope it's not gonna be too long.

It might be a little hard if you are really into computer. Maybe try outdoors activities like walking with your friends, relatives, or even your husband if he has extra time just to keep you busy because the more you stay at home the more you think about it and bothers you much. Also think about the outcome if ever the room is already done, maybe it would be much beautiful and comfortable already and it will make you both feel better when the job is already done, what im saying is you can help him doing the fixing, it will also keep you both busy it won't be thinking much about computer. Since you have been into computer, i think its also a nice time to give some break and have a relaxation time and rest.

A lot of times I'm so busy with my two children that I don't have time to go online at all during the day so I usually go on at night instead. Even then sometimes I'm so busy that I don't have time to go online so I start feeling like I'm going through withdrawl lol. I will surely be happy when the room is done and looks so much better. It will be a great feeling. I have to watch the kids while my husband works on the room so I cant really help him except at night when they are asleep. I usually wind up doing the painting of the walls because he takes to long. Luckily the weather is supposed to be pretty nice all week so I can spend a lot of time outdoors instead of being cooped up inside with no internet access.

Yes its totally difficult to live without the computer....and that too for a week...
Just be engaged with something outdoors and i am sure u will manage...
Earlier I used to play games only in computer, now various projects and works I am doing over the PC...virtually I am at the computer desk always..Its really difficult to imagine a day without it...and of course the Internet...
Try to engage in other activities like visiting friends and reatives and you will not know how the time passed...
And about the room it surely need repairing....
Good Luck!

yeah.. look for some other activities. looking or something new. that's what usually i did when i've got no time with computer, hunting photograph, go travel to place near you but you never visit it, or make some handcraft, i believe these can put your feel away from computer..
