wikipedia is a good source of basic information but it is not that trust worthy. i would not use it if i had to write a paper on a certain subject, because for that you need more reliable and trustworthy information. wikipedia is subject to people's slants on the items there.

Yeah, Wikipedia is a good starting point I think for looking up information. But as much as I love the site, I would suggest always getting other sources as well. Anyone and everyone can edit a Wikipedia article to say whatever they want so long as they have an account. But I am one of those people that when I do add something, I like to cite my source unless it's something obvious (say, 'the sky is blue').

I go to Wiki for good, fast information. I use it sometimes when I have reports that I'm not really familiar with (like Introduction of DNA to a host cell, etc.) to brief me or to give me a clear explanation of it, because sometimes sites from outside, or those official sites don't really provide that kind of clear briefing.

Well wikipedia is definitely a good and convenient starting point and you can get many facts from there. But it is sensible not to trust wikipedia completely because the information on there comes from readers, just normal people like you and me so it is better to do additional research if you are looking for something really important.
