Do you get shin splits when you run?

What do you do when you get shin splits when you run? Is there anything that I can do to avoid them other than to not run?

Yes, I get shin splints when I run. In fact, I get them when I walk, as well. It appears to happen when you walk or run too much. I'd advise that you begin to take it easy for a short period of time when you feel them coming on. Then once you've cooled down, you can go again. This is how I deal with mine.

I would run less because it seems like your running too long. Maybe run up ill the point where it would feet like it starts to hurt, then walk. Keep repeating this everyday then you will get better at running.
