I prefer windows xp professional service pack 2 because I used to it for troubleshooting and my main antivirus run only in these windows operating system. I am used for system restore and system recovery for windows xp. I changed to windows vista ultimate many times but it really made feel easy if I am using windows xp/

HOLD ON! Before you do anything drastic like buying a Mac, you may want to research other operating systems first. I run three different operating systems on one platform without having to partition my hard drive or use virtualization. "Vista" being the only OS installed on my hard drive. I have really enjoyed the GUI that Vista offers, but I am no Vista fan boy. There are other operating systems like "Slax" and "Knoppix" that dont require any instalation. You can run them off of a flash stick. Both Slax and Knoppix are Linux based and you can download them for free.

I had used all old versions of Windows. But I haven't used windows Vista still now. So,it will be better not to comment on that.I prefer Windows XP, its very user friendly. I have heard that some of the feature of Vista is awesome. But still I like the simple operating systems, that I am using for years.

I tried with Windows Vista but I found very difficulty to work with it and responding to the lot of query windows is irritating one. So I again changed into Windows Xp. As I am very familiar with it, I feel comfortable with it. But the xp is very much susceptible to viral attack and this is the major drawback of it.

these days i am using windows 7 and believe me it is the best OS from the Microsoft's workshop. I am really loving it.it is very fast and very secure as well. It may soon be supersede windows vista. vista is really a very slow OS and I hate it like anything.
I would recommend everyone to use windows 7 as an OS because it is quite safe and user friendly as well.

I prefer windows XP than any other operating system.Vista is a total failure from Microsoft side. The most popular desktop client operating system launched by Microsoft are windows 98 and XP professional.Windows Millennium edition and Windows Vista is a failure from Microsoft.I once installed Windows Vista and then uninstalled it because of slow system performance.Hardware requirement for running Vista is more and there is lot hardware and software compatibility problems with Vista.I also tried linux, but some dive is not detecting after installation.

Windows 7 will be out around August. I'm using the Beta now and it is leaps and bounds better than Vista. I haven't tested playing any old games on it so I don't know how it stacks up against XP in that area but other than that I think it is slick.
BTW, I'm running it on a 1.4Ghz AMD with 1 GB of RAM. It needs more resources than XP but I don't think it is quite the hog that Vista is.
As for Macs, I've only used them at work. I've seen them crash from time to time. They are pretty and fun to play with but nothing that I'm going to run out and buy for home use.
If I was just needing a low cost machine I'd probably run Fedora. I'm really thinking about putting a live cd image of Fedora or gOS on my parents' computer to avoid having to fix virus/spyware issues.

There are lot of operating system available in the market and many of them are good but according to me I prefer windows xp than vista because windows vista have many intenal processes running that make operating system slow although that windows vista interface is quite attractive but it require high end pc to run operating properly while windows xp is quite simple and run fast you can make windows xp look like windows vista and what it doesnot required high end pc and almost every program runs properly in windows xp where as in vista programs get crash most of the time....are some of the common factors that make vista week.

I prefer Windows XP, its the most complete and bug-free version of Windows and it meets my needs exactly. While Vista has some wonderful features, I don't need these at all so it is a waste of memory. I like the simple operating systems, I dont need something fancy, just something that works and I know how to work.
