I Usually fold the corner of the book page when I am reading, much more if I can not finish it? I will fold the page where I stopped so that the next time I will read it again, I will know where I stopped. Sometimes, I use book mark but if no available book, I just fold the page. How about you? you do the same with me? folding the page?
Just curious to hear you story.

A dog earer is somebody who folds the edge of a page over, it looks like a dogs ear.

I use a bookmark to mark the page. Never folded the pages of the book before...can't bring myself to do that as I am a book lover who wraps each and every one of her book covers with plastic so they can last many years. However, I don't always use a proper bookmark if one is not at hand. I would use a piece of paper or ruler or anything small and flat that will not damage the book just to bookmark the page.

Oh wow!! that book mark has significance. I love to use book mark too but sometimes I lost my book marks,, so, I just fold the upper corner of the book I read. It is my own book so, I can just do what I want with it.. Lol.. but it is neat when we used book mark instead of folding the page. Thanks for sharing your story.

Hello friend. I know this is a no no to put a dog ears on the book read. That is to fold a marking to remember where you have stopped reading for easier access the next time you read it but i am guilty of it since I am doing such most of the time. Though there are times that I keep a bookmark with me so that it is handy every time i finished reading.

Hi Bebs, i do the same. I just fold the corner of the page instead of using book mark.I must tell you about this amusing incident that happened with me. I write book reviews on line and if I find something interesting while reading, that I plan to include in my review I just tick the paragraph or the sentence and then fold the corner of the page so that I can identify it. Once I had so many of these pages that i was thoroughly confused as to where exactly I left off. It should be the last folded page, but my daughter who had started reading the same book , had gone ahead of me and left her mark as well, by folding a page where she had left off- on the whole both of us were confused LOL

I use a bunch of folded pieces of paper to write down good quotes and information that I want to go back over in the future. I read a lot of nonfiction books so there's a lot of stuff in there that I want to be able to remember. I also draw a lot of inspiration just from writing things down for some reason.

Oh wow!! that's a good idea. I think I should do that too instead of just underlining the important things i want to remember in the book. Well, maybe that is good if the book is not yours, you have to take note but if It is mine I have to undeline it.

Hi Bebs,
I love to fold. I have tried using bookmark but I always mess it up so folding works best for me!

I don't use bookmark while I read a book. I feel that I can remember the page number so, that I can start reading from the same place I ended it last time.
Although, it is not advisable to not to use bookmarks. I mean bad writing is better than good memory, isn't it?

i don't use bookmarks at all!! i just fold the page of the book where i left off and just open that page again if i will start reading again. i used to have some bookmarks but they get lost all the time. or either they would slip from the book, making me guess what page i stopped reading. so i would rather just fold the page that use a bookmark.

Hello Bebs08! Eversince I was 8, reading has become one of my interests. During that time, I didn't even know that there's that bookmark thing. So I folded the page of the book where I stopped. I did that until I reached college attually. But like you, I still fold the page when there's no bookmark availavle or if I'm lazy to get the bookmark..hehehe..

It depends on the book. If I am reading a book that is in very nice condition, or which I value a lot, I tend to use a book mark. However, I have several used books that are tattered-looking, and when I read those, I fold the page I leave off on. I also read a lot of poetry, and I like to write notes on my bookmarks and flag the pages I like. Sometimes, though, if it is a book I've used in a class, I will write marginalia in the book of poems and not use a book mark.

Almost all of my old books are dog-eared. I used to fold the corner page of any book that I read, especially old ones, so I would know the page where I left off. But that was then. When I started buying and collecting books, I got introduced to 'bookmarks'(lol!), and I learned to use them because I don't want any marks on my books, especially those brand-new-looking and hard-bound ones, because they're actually expensive. ^_^

I use bookmarks. For one thing, I so love my books, that they would look new after I've read it. Whenever they get crumpled it really depreciates my affection for reading that book, because I read my books time and again.
I really hate it, whenever I let someone borrow and they just don't take good care of it, really just pissed me off. But I'm just cool about it, hoping that the person learn more as how he/she has tortured my pages.

Folding the page! I try not to damage my books! Eventually, after a ton of folding, the pages will be weakened so much that they'll rip easily! *will never do that. Ever*
I'll put something inside the book, lay it pages down so I can pick it right back up, memorize my page, or else use a bookmark. ^_^'

I keep forgetting where I put my bookmarks so I fold the page instead. But there was a time I got addicted to these phone cards with really nice designs. I collected them and used them as bookmarks...now I'm back to folding pages :P

I use bookmarks.
besides, folding the page does not follow the proper care for the book. I treat my books as precious pets so I don't want them get torn, folded or damaged in any way. I just make my personalized bookmark thin enough not to create a lump.
