Do you think introducing timeouts to the IPL is good?

IPL has introduced 7 1/2 minutes break after 10 overs, which can add to the revenues. The original 3 hour duration has increased to 3 hours and 15 minutes because of the 2 breaks. Do you think this will do good to the IPL? Or do you see the 20-20 matches gradually getting longer and then will replace the ODI matches?

its no surprise for people like me who believes IPL is more about making money and not cricket.they r dividing those 7 and half minutes break into 3 segments of which 2 of them r for commercials which ofcourse brings in millions for the IPL people.wat more no action for 7 and half minutes.
we have seen batsmen losing their rhythms even after taking a break when a ball is lost or due to other match interuptions and this break is going to affect the match in a big way.may be at the end of season players will be complaining about this unnecessary break and u call it the non-stop action cricket.lol.sure everything will be going to be stopped after 10 overs

And this is ridiculous in the sense people glued to the TV just because they want to see the hardcore action. The whole fun will be spoiled. Good point about the concentration of the players. I agree with you in saying that the players will complain about this.

i am wondering y neither the ICC officials or more importantly the players r not complaining about this time out stuff.now it seems IPL wont be a big hit this season considering the controversies ,new venues and this stinking new timeout rule.

No action for seven and a half minutes!! thats the most stupid idea cricket has ever had to endure. Those 7 and a half minutes can change the way the game is heading. Twenty20 is all about the pressure build up from either the batting or fielding side.Imagine a bowling side putting pressure on the batsman and all of a sudden there a break. that can change the momentum of the whole game. Similarly with a batsmen whos just got his eye in, hell have to start all over again after the break.
We all know that this break was for financial gains. But a smarter way to do it was letting a side choose a 2-3 minute time out once during the match either while bowling or batting, and not after 10 overs. Although this would also be for financial reasons they could say its part of tactics.

It is good because it helps the team to come back into the match.
We've seen many matches in which when the momentum is with batting team, after the strategic break the momentum shifts to the fielding team. Also the vice versa.
So the match becomes interesting. Otherwise the match becomes one sided matches.
So the number of close matches are more in this IPL, compare to last year's IPL.
