Hello mylottes,
Do you watch Chinese Movies? Some of my foreign friends told me that he thought chinese people knows how to fly, they got that imagine from the Kong-Fu moive that they seen. I used to think there are some people who can really fly when i was little kid. I am not sure how good the translation are when Chinese Movies be translated in English, as a chinese, i can understand it's deeper meaning 100%, but i am not sure about people from western country. Because some of the scenes shows the culture different.
Even though i am still wondering how many of you like chinese moives? If you ever seen one. what is the name of it? What impress you the most? Thanks for sharing your idea with us.

Yeah I like Chineses movies if they're the kind of movies that I like. I'm not sure if he's a chinese director or a japanese director but one of my favorite directors that's asian would be Park Chan Wook. He's the director of I'm a Cyborg, But It's Okay and that's one of my favorite movies. It's a pretty trippy and visually appealing movie and it has scenes with the astral cord and things like that in it. It takes place in a mental institution and I think it's one of the best movies I've ever seen.

I'm not a fan of Chinese Movies. I think the closest to the best Chinese movie I know is Geisha which had Chinese actors/actresses even though the novel was Japanese and the production was American :) I liked the acting the most.
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

It's been long known that in the acting world Chinese and Japanese actors would act in each movies, basically as some have put it "playing each other". Most of the time it is as extras, but in some cases it is in lead roles.

I do. I love the movies of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Samo Hung, Jet Li and Chow Yun Fat. I don't have a Chinese blood and I don't know any Chinese words, nevertheless, the actions were enough to keep me hooked on the action movies of those actors. (I may have loved the movies more if I can understand Chinese languages.) When I finally understand English, the translations helped a lot, not just in understanding the movie but in learning the culture and tradition of the Chinese people.

Hi Eichs,
Nice to hear that you like Chinese Moive, but i found out most of the chinese movie you like are action movie. I want to know if people look at the romantic Chinese Movies? I like Jet Li, too. I think he is so man. Jakie Chan is well known as a action actor. Chinese People are from all over the world, i am sure you can make friends with chinese people, that's the fastest way to learn some chinese word and chinese culture.

There are lots of Chinese here in the Philippines and I have some acquaintances too. But I don't think it's really that easy to learn the language. With so much characters and hard to imitate pronunciations, I really have to devote some time to learn Chinese.
Generally, I am not that much into romantic movies. I am more into science fiction and fantasy-action and horror movies. I really can't remember watching a pure romantic Chinese movie. But some of the action movies have great love stories in them too. "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" has beautiful love story in it and so is the "House of Flying Daggers".

I just recently watched a really good Chinese Movie called "Together." It was about a father and son who journey to Beijing for a violin competition. I started a discussion about Chinese movies afterward.

Oh don't like chinese movies because it is directed over actively. Like the pointing of fingers to their noses when they say "I" or "me". I find it not good if actor and actresses overdo an action or scene. it spoils the movie. I only like some movies of Jacky Chan and the late Bruce Lee. atleast it's not obvious because it is an action movies.

conditions vary from countries to countries, the same is true of movies.undoubtedly, hollywood movie is the most popular trend among the world, but yet ,it is still very hard to say that everyone around the corner of the globe like it.different people own distinct flavor, they just like things which interest them.so whether a movie is popular or not depends upon individual affection or hatred.it is hard to use only one sentence to simply judge whether a country's movie is good or bad.

I do watch Chinese Movies. Some are nice and interesting and worth watching. Some I watched simply for pure entertainment. It is a form of relaxation. It is not a bad idea for one to dream that one can fly or have superpowers. The English movies have such too. It is just protrayed in a different dimension.

But I prefer comedy movie than action movie. Current one, I love films with Stephen Chow. I love Chinese movie's comedy, they are very straight and funny

Hi Justicliu,
I am agree that watching english movies can help you with your english, but one thing is very improtant is that you can not rely on the chinese translation, if you do that, you will not gain much. That's how i learn from my lessons. I was so attracted by the movies and i forgot to learn my english! lol

So glad to see the topic.
It is interesting that your foreign friends from western countries consider Chinese have learnt how to fly.HOHO.
In my mind,I like the Chinese history opera very much such as the Empery of Qin era,the Romance of three kingdoms, heros of the the water margins. Of course, the story of the stone is also famous, but I do not like,I think it dull.
And a story of a journey to the west looks so interesting during my childhood time.
Thank you.

Hi Fengxiang,
If i am right, you are a chinese too, right? And you name meaning share, correct? When i was a little girl, i do believe that some people can fly, because we saw it from the TV and we did not know at that time that they are not true. Now we know, but we still thankful for the enjoyment that chinese movies bring us.

I really like Chinese movies. I've seen a lot of Jackie Chan's movies from when I was young until now. In most movies they were able to incorporate action (really cool fight scenes!) and comedy which is really entertaining for me. My favorite Chinese movie I have to say is Kung Fu Hustle. I also like Shaolin Soccer and Mad Monkey Kung Fu. There are a lot I have seen and enjoyed but I don't remember the title right now.

I could remember those days when we were still kids watching those of Jackie Chan films (who to me doesn't grow or look old) and Bruce Lee and the like, it was so entertaining that we want for more. Even when we grow older, I am fascinated how Chinese movies turned out to be better in their movies these days as well, although of course some find it too fictional, ambitious or exxagerated, but then when you look at this, not much of other Asian country has able to beat the fact that Chinese movies has already gone its circulation around the globe. What impresses me, is how they were able to grab the science of movie making mixed with the Chinese movie culture, the "karate element" has always influenced many actions movies throughout the world.

Hi Torchablazed,
You got some points!Yes, indeed, Chinese Movies is growing, the directors are trying their best to mix the estern element and western element to the movie more attractive. I think as long as the moive can bring you some move, some enjoyment, so laughts, then it's worthwhile to watch it.

I really can't say. I mean I'm not a fan and not hating it as well. Just lukewarm. But I love "Shaolin Soccer" with Stephen Chow was that considered Chinese?
I prefer Korean from Chinese, I don't know, I like their humor and animated scenes maybe. So unreal but fun!
