Now all kinds of computer games are so popular all over the world . Almost the young kids would like to play computer games . They are so indulged in them that it seems as if they could hardly live without playing them every day.Undoubtedly ,computer games are the results of advances in science . They help people relax because people can find something new ,interesting and stimulating to play with . But addiction to computer games affects people's work or study . Everytime I see my students playing computer games I feel sorry for them .Would you like computer games ? Have you become addicted?

My daughter is addicted and I HATE it LOL On the other hand, I don't play any at all. I do play some old-fashioned handheld or TV plug in games like Tetris, Yahtze and Uno. However, I feel that's different because the games I play make you think some whereas I don't see how other virtual reality games do. Although the 1 exception to that is Webkinz. They do have some pretty educational games on there for the kids to enjoy.

A lovely mother , I agree with you very much . Usually for commercial benefit producers always ingnore kids' feelings and price that will be paid by those kids and parents . Voielate and addicting games do harm to young people so much .They have losed not only time and energy ,even health . That result that we don't want is worst .

Thank you for your compliment. I must admit that I do still struggle thought to find a balance for my daughter. Thankfully she doesn't couple her game addiction with a TV addiction as well because then we'd really be in trouble LOL I deal with the gaming as it's a part of life anymore but I do try to limit it and refuse to buy anything like Xbox to add to the issue.

yup i think computer games are getting more and more addictive with all the different types of graphics or things that can attract people's attention.I was once a game addict myself but i manage to stop and controll myself from not touching any games.I has been 6 months since i play online games and i feel that it's a good acheivement for myself haha.I guess students will only start to stop playing computer games like me when they starting looking at their results and find that something is going wrong and it's going to be a wake up call for all.

Heck yeah, I get addicted to them easily (especially if it is a MMORPG) because I'm someone who has a propensity to slip off into LaLa land. :)

I like computer games and i like the most is the Minesweeper which will be get default by installing any Windows operating system and i don't how many times i played.Apart from that i like to play is any car racing game and bike racing games. And i interest to play Project IGI series and also GTA series very well dear. But we can addict to those project igi and gta if we start playing. So i would like to play only Minesweeper as it won't take long and we can finish it in 5 min and it improves the mind ability and thinking capacity too.Have a nice day dear and good topic to discuss.

I have to admit that I love computer games, but only certain ones. But once I start playing one I can sit and play for hours and not realize that I have played for hours. It seems the time just gets away from me. I can totally relax and let my mind wander or just go blank and sometimes I play until I start to doze and decide that I have had enough and it is ready to go to bed. I usually don't start with the games until all my email is read, though.

Like anything else, computer games can be wonderful in moderation. People need to learn to manage their time and not become addicted to the games. I personally think we overuse the word addicted and for most people it is an obsession rather than an addiction. There are some GREAT computer games for students. What grade level students do you have? My elementary daughters go to www.funbrain.com and play the arcade games there. They are all educationally based but have the game component, too. My kids love them!

it happens that a guy keep playing games for several days without resting. in that situation, i think the word addict is pretty suitable. But, as you said, there are some wonderful games on the internet and we can live a better life with them. So, that relly depands.

I definitely believe that kind of stuff happens. I'm just not sure I would call it an addiction. I would probably say a lack of restraint or a problem with time management. Then again, I'm not an addiction expert. I think too many times, though, we allow the word addict to be used so we have an excuse for poor behavior. Again, that is just my opinion.

Hey, youetme! I don't play computer games like that. But, I do like the games that I can play that I can win cash and earn points for prizes. I try to never get myself to the point of being addicted, that is when it will be a problem. My husband has many games downloaded on this laptop that he plays almost everyday at night. As for me, I am just sticking to the easy ones.

I started playing computer games while in high school, about 20 years ago.
Till now I still play computer games, especially those mmorpg games. Get to know a lot of gamers through the games.
It's fun when I have the time to play and to lose myself in game.
However, I'm not addicted to the game, and never been. Always do the important work before playing. And able to stop a year or two before searching for new game to play.
I think it's just a matter of discipline, getting addicted to computer games is not very much difference from getting addicted to TV. There are some students who get addicted to reading those martial arts series (those who are good in chinese language).
Still it boils down to the self-discipline of the students. Instead of asking students to stop playing, it is better to teach them to be their own hero or master of life.

I like playing this multi players online game.
It is a good chance to associate with people with common interests. It's also a good chance to study people.
Those young kids are prone to insult each other and fight with each other over small matters. If they lost, they will get all their friends to "take revenge".
Those retirees are too lazy to play much, they usually just stand around and chat with each other. Most of them remain at the same level for a long time.
Persons like us working adults are more willing to spend real money upgrading our equipments, and to get enjoyment out of game.
Ladies usually select supporting roles, like healers.
I find playing game interesting, and observing the players even more interesting. People really dont change, whether in real life or in game.

I was addicted to games during my school days but when I joined college, I had to leave them as I had many other things to do beside gaming. These days many users are so addicted to gaming that they waste a large time over there. I only recommend gaming to those players who have a capability to become profession players. Unnecessary wasting of time on games should be avoided.

I believed the consequences after playing computer games differs for everyone. It is not necessary that everyone that plays computer games become addicted to it, more often or not,it boils down to the self discipline and the motive of the gamer. Some recreational gamers just go for a short hour or so of computer gaming occasionally as a stress reliever, to temporarily take their minds of school and work. To this group, the gaming experience can actually turn out beneficial as it rejuvenates their minds and keep their brain thinking through a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. However, there is also the more extreme gamers, who are so addicted to gaming that they cant carry on with their daily work their a sufficient dosage of gaming on the computer. As with any other obsession, computer addiction will eventually harm the gamer, disrupting his work and harming his body in more extreme cases. I believe indulgence in gaming can be condoned only if the gamer has sufficient self discipline and good time management skills, if not, abstinence or prohibition from their family and friends should be practised to prevent the situation slipping out of hands.

online games for almost 15 hours. Sometimes he
forgot to eat his meals on the right time. I'm
afraid he is totally hooked in this computer games
his playing. I just don't understand why he become
addicted to it. I just couldn't get it.

I use to play many games online. I used to play for many hours but I never think I was addicted to the games. There were times when i felt like playing even I had to do other important work. These days I hardly play any games, Ive kinda shifted priorities.

When I was in college days and thinks only of school and computer I can say I was addicted to games. Especially the counter strike and ragnarok. When the time I had my thesis I forced myself to stop doing things that is not related to school. It was really hard. I lost my characters and I lost my friends - my co-gamer. But i found out later on that I gain weight, I passed my thesis and I have money in my pocket. It was an advantage after all.
