Question for Line 6 Toneport UX2 users

I am looking into investing in this thing at some point, considering I have found it for an extremely low price. I am wondering, does it really matter what type of guitar you are using? I have fairly low end guitars, and would like to be assured that I would still be able to produce some decent tone for recording purposes. Any information about this would be great!
