Yes youless...this is very very 101% true. When my dog (the one on my avatar) was still alive, my husband and I were very very careful whenever we eat chocolates as in not to drop any crumbs or even a little single bit on the floor. However my dog WeiWei would always come and sit nearby when we eat, regardless whether it is chocolates as long as it's food. I used to look into her eyes and tell her she can't eat chocolates, you will die if you eat it , and later I will give you your doggy greenies. She will just wag her tail when i talk to her...heheheh !!! Oh how I miss my dog so much.....she passed away last year Feb 14 due to old age...

This is very definitely true. DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG CHOCOLATE! Other foods that are bad for them include raisins and onions.

youless,
Well, now that you know, then you might want to tell these ignorant owners. Because chocolates makes them sick and if more is given it could be fatal.
So, do the right thing and not let them suffer.
Take care.

Just like the guys have mentioned and also my wife just stated above - don't even try it unless you want to kill those irritating non-stop barking evil looking dogs? Haha!~But that's pretty mean too. Hmm...I wonder do those spies give K9s chocolate instead of buying poison that might be a bit too costly? Haha!~

There is special chocolate you can buy from vets or from reputable pet shops that is specifically made for our tail wagging friends that they can munch on without worrying about poisoning them! But it's an easy mistake to make and you could absent mindedly feed your dog chocolate without giving it a second thought. Did you know that lettuce is poisonous to rabbits? Yet they will still eat it, you have to be so careful, give animals treats but make sure the treats are not poisonous to them.

It is true that chocolate is not healthy for your dog or your cat. It elevates their heartrate and is a bronchodilator as well I believe.

I worked as a Vet Tech while I was in college, and yes it is true as is hot dogs. chocolate and hot dog wieners are very bad for dogs, it is because they are unable to digest it properly and then it becomes toxic for them.

I got to know that a few years ago when I was going to give some chocolate to my mother in law's dog and she told me not to give him because he already had eaten some. The vet had told her that some chocolate is good but not it shouldn't be given often. Also the vet told her that whilst a dog likes bones, they don't have to be chicken's bones because they can be harmful too, but I don't know (well better say I don't remember why).

Well yes, that could be a very possible reason, but I am not sure if that just it, maybe of some things in the chicken bones. Well, if the doctors say no, I would just avoid it. There are plenty of other good food to feed a dog.

Yes I did know that chocolate is deadly to a dog. I had read before that as little as 1 oz can kill a dog. I imagine that would have to be a very small dog though like a teacup chiahuha or something. My daughter knows not to feel animals chocolate so thats good. LOL I am sure she wouldnt want to waste any yummy chocolate by feeding it to a dog anyway. I was at the park the other day with my two children and this little girl who is there very often who is in kindergarden was feeding her easter candy to this dog that wanders around the park. It is a very old dog and is a big yellow lab. I told her that giving chocolate to the dog can make it really sick and even kill it but she didnt listen she just said that the dog liked it. It wasent my dog or my child so I let it go.

Yes...I've known that for years and I'm amazed at how many people don't realize it. Also...slim jims and beef jerky are really really bad for dogs and yet so many people will buy them for their pets. I guess when I think on it, I only know this because as a kid, I was part of a 4h that worked with dogs and I learned alot of these little facts. I work in a convenience store and people are forever coming in and buying these things for their dogs. I try to talk them out of it and tell them how bad they are. we have plenty of dog treats that are healthy for the dogs. I think this information should be more publicized and it amazes me that it isn't.

I was told that by my vet, never to fee chocolate to dogs, as it will poison them. They sure would like to eat some though, but I just don't give them any, not even a sliver. There is a certain ingredient in it, that poisons the dog, but not sure what the ingredient is. I was told milk chocolate is bad, but Ii think all chocloalt is bad, whether it be milk chocolate or the dark chocolate. Some peoplel will give their dogs anything they want, without thinking of what they would be doing to the dog. Either they don't know, or they don't care. And that really is sad, as I feel if you want to be a respectable dog owner, then don't feed them anything or everything.
