My friends are sucking the life out of me. It's not like I have a lot of them but the few I do have are beginning to drain me with all of their problems. I've tried to be a good friend but have found that I too, have taken on terrible disposition about life in general. No one wants to be around anyone who is depressed or complaining all day long. I've attempted some heart to heart talks but they just turned into pity parties...I hope this is just a phase, maybe it's the economy..who knows - what do you think?

No it's not just a phase. It's the times we live in and most people are only concerned with themselves which is one of the reason why I don't have many "friends" and don't care to. If they aren't draining you emotionally they are trying to drain your money from you. I have been a loner for years and like it that way.

I'd like to keep core around me because you never know what can happy. But I see your point..they'd have a terrible time trying to drain money from my pockets - nothing but lint :(

I think that you need to get busy and go places, do things without those friends. It's part of being a friend to listen to someone's problems but when it's a constant thing, you're just being treated as a doormat.

Thanks, I've been thinking the same thing for quite some time. I'm looking to make some positive changes with the arrival of spring. Looking forward to the transition, as the seems like it has been going on forever. Question, what does the number in parentheses after your name mean? Is it the number of responses/posts/task? I still trying to get a grasp on mylot..this will be my second week, I think. I noticed your numbers is over 6,000.

Good heavens, I'm over 6,000!!! I never look at it so it's rather a nice surprise! It just indicates the number of messages I've posted--discussions, replies, the whole ball of yarn. It gives you an idea of how active someone is. I've been here a year, but others have been here less time and have higher numbers than I because they are more active.

Wow! a year isn't a long time - there must have been some great discussions to post too! Mine will probably slow down as I have to return to work on Monday :( Happy posting

I am one of those "depressed" friends. I really hate it. I can't stand feeling like I am being a burden on my friends with my depression. I don't drain them of money or anything like that. I just simply vent a lot about my problems. I feel bad for it, and I dont want them to avoid me. This is a good post. Thanks.

Thanks, you've got to get out of that depressed state though..it wrecks havoc on your health and every area of your life starts going nowhere fast. Hate to sound so bleak about it...you'll find your place in the sun soon :)

I totally understand what you mean. I am not as patient as I used to be either. I no longer avoid people I try to tell them what I think without hurting feelings so my friends can either choose to continue on a negative path or to grow and evolve from our situations. Life is just too short. Good Luck

I understand where you are coming from..it's difficult at times but I can attest - you always take the high road despite what is happening or what is being said.
