I am an Atheist...Give me one reason to believe in God....

Reason huh? Well I say the very existence of yours is God. Your parents, your loved ones are all the forms of God and HIS blessings. Have you ever pondered that how are you into this world? Why as a human being? Why that woman as your mother? All these questions are nothing but God. We call him, recognise him and pray to him in different ways which we like to adopt. Well dear friend may i take the privilage and you about simple observation I made. It is that, people who claim to be "Atheists" are the ones who unknowingly keep on chanting the name of GOD.Like you did. No offense intended. I belive it is also the craft of His. Cheers, Bodhi

Usually when a person posts topics like these asking why someone believes something they themselves are looking for proof so they too can believe. Because if a person truly believes something does/doesn't exist they do not research thoughts and feelings of others on the subject....which makes me wonder are you an atheist or an agnostic? But my one reason is God lives in everyone. If I deny God then I am denying the truth in myself. God is truth, bare and raw, natural, beautiful and ugly. God exists in nature in the sunlight dancing across the fields and God exists in the tornados that rip across the same fields, God is humanity. I think our society would be so much better if we stop having others prove God's existence so we can believe and just search for it ourselves in our everyday lives, even the Bible. Have a great day.

Whether a person believes in God or not, it is totally up to the person! God is not a physical matter to be proved by the laws of physicl sciences or logical reasoning! Only, we all must care for spirituality for God realization!! Thanks for this nice topic Udit and have a good day!

My answer isn't to prove existence of god firstly. Ok? Jus think my way. There are good things n bad whic both influence your life actively or passively. N we humans are ones to name them as so. But there is jus one force always strikin a balance in this world. U sure cant do few things if u think of doing now..but if yr given a situation wher yr life is at stake, u do the impossible. Its impossible things wen they happen tat people say its gods miracle. But actually, its something tat we ve within ourselves always but realize later. Der isn god n u don ve to believe or worship anything! Its jus u n the things around u tat matter n u sure can believe in a unknown virtual force to pray for your motivation only if u are weak enough to not motivate yourself !!

The fact that you are a living being should answer your question of God's existence. Can you create life? Can you create a beign or living organism which has blood, bones, muscels nostrils etc? have you ever taken a look at yourself to wonder how did someone carefully create this body of mine so perfect to the point where everything functions properly and in order? How am I able to have a mind of my own where I have been given the power of decision on what happens to me? And there is the question of the universe.. did you create the stars that in the heavens? Do you make the sun shine in the day or the moon at night? The wind that blows, do you know where it comes from or who sends it? Do you cause the rain to fall? Did you invent the weather? That alone should tell you that there is a God out there and everywhere. If you are truly sincere about believing in God and finding out his true existence the I highly suggest that you read the Bible as that is where you will find the answers of God's existence. The Bible is not a book as most people view it. It is the living word of the Almighty God, spoken through people who took the time to write down what they heard and experienced. I personally will never understand how someone can be an atheist. You dont even have to be religious or spiritual to notice that there is a higher authority that reigns within us. So before you start going on about I dont believe God, read the Bible.. The answer is definitely there.

Interesting! Why do you want someone else to make you believe in god, it doesn't make any sense, and there's of no meaning in it. I'm not an atheist, but I won't try to persuade people to believe in god, I only tell people my experience, if they have similar or will have similar experience, they will understand it. Although I don't belong to any religous group, I believe there's god.

The belief in god is subjective. Well when you call yourself an atheist.. you mean to say that you do not believe in god but you reason science. It means that you deduce everything that is around us and do not feel. People from the ancient times feel that there is some thing that controls everything and that is nature itself. People may name them in terms of many religions and sects but what is most important is the belief itself. Physics,mathematics, chemistry and biology making the basics of science and reasoning is the basic argument that atheists give to dispute the non existence of god. Well my feeling is then is that they are running into some serious limitations. They have reasons for physical happenings.A believer looks to BELIEF for guidance in what is right and what is wrong. Right and wrong, for both, do not come from physics or chemistry or biology or any sciences. I think that there is no path to righteousness and charity and love and compassion and humanity in molecular biology or atomic physics or in geometry. Well the truth that these sciences seem to portray are very different from the truth that we seek in human behavior and the choices that we make as a human being. Why do we feel that it is bad to murder and steal and it is good to care others and clothe the naked and feed the hungry and deprive people off their sorrow. I feel that belief is life and science is the way to improve life. Biology describes the existence of altruism but does not explains why?. There is no need for doing any sort of mental acrobatics to generate thoughts of reasons of belief in god. Faith is not deduced but it is something that is felt. A feeling that science cannot refute. It is that feeling that makes us to believe what is good for ourselves and others. I think that the mistake that the atheists make is that they feel that god is an ordinary part of the natural world. But instead god is not. God is the reason for the nature itself and its existence and he is the explanations of why things are as they are. And most important of all is that he is the reason for existence but not part of the existence itself so he is beyond reasoning but is the reason for the reasoning itself. Albert Einstein said "the eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility." But despite the advancement of science the mystery remains as such. Why should a person who strongly believes in science has a better reason to belief in god? The answer is scientific logic. Science is all about hypothesis getting converted into laws after careful experimentation. We made mathematical equations that have been proved to control the universe. But if there would have been a slight deviation from these then you could not have existed do debate. Why there were no deviations. Why everything is there as they are? Who was intelligent enough to do this in the right way so that there wont be any deviations? Those who say that this is just chance then i have one more argument for them. A lot many people believe that man decides all that he does. In a way he decides when he meets with an accident and when he is wronged. Some say that if a truck runs over a man it was because the man decided that (in a very different manner). It is as if that man decided to be at that time at that part of the road where the truck was to run over. It is just that he did not know that the running of the truck was to happen but he controlled his presence at that place. But this paradoxical argument reasoning co incidence is just one side of the coin when the other side is of faith. Faith that makes us to love. Faith that gives the life giving properties to nature. Not everything need to be scientific. The simple sentence that " I LOVE YOU" is not scientific but it is meaningful. A meaning that gives ecstasy. Theorems and deductions cannot do that. the world would not be a better place without this. And i am pretty sure that science cannot fill in the vacuum that the absence of faith creates. hope this helps.

After reading all the answers so far,I would like to give my view,I went from being an atheist to agnostic to Witch,I now beleive very highly in many Gods and Goddesses,and each has their own area to be in charge of. As for having one god to be responsable for mankind,as was stated earlier by another believer,and that just because we had not seen Pluto or other planets before they were descovered,were they there or not,we still know very little of our universe,how do you know we are not some decendents of another race from space? I have found,that most very strong believers are brainwashed into this state by their parents. There are many other questions that could and probably will be asked throughout time that can not be answered,so lets stop here for now,thank you for the discussion.

I m not going to explain you existence of god, because no can change belief of others.Whenever i m in trouble, that supreme power send someone to help me. i got many good friends like you because of that god. that's my belief.He always make arrangements for me. hey!! i am a devout christian and i have personally known the grace of god. And proud to say that i am a believer. Have you ever in your life have reasons to think that some situations would have turned ugly but was saved by a divine supernatural omnipotent savior. My parents are very religious and i have many reasons to believe that the good fortunes i have right now are all because they have prayed for me all along. Just one of many examples is: I have seen my friends losing lots of stuffs to thieves while we stayed at a hostel during our college days where as i have never encountered such problems. There are lots of events where i have being helped by strangers in my times of need and i always feel that a divine creator is out there looking out for me. As it is written in the bible" to everything there is a season" and i believe the fact that true happiness comes with your faith and hope for a better tomorrow ( As human beings we always felt that the grass is more greener at the other side) and that everything in life comes to those who waits.

well your existence itself is a gods gift, you should be thankful to god that you exist and still have life in you. if you are trying to test whether to believe god or not than you better don't believe because such belief is worthless.believe on by your self or don't take it.

Belief completely depends on man's own will and wish. its because it comes from within. i don't think that giving you even a 100 reasons would change you from being an Atheist to a believer. and also as you have stated, till you have the need, the urge to know that God, u won't. Because u don't desire to. you sure know what desire is right.

One reason I can think of is that man is said to be created in the form of God i.e. God created man just like Himself. Since God is thought of as Almightly, belief in Him therefore gives man a feeling of himself being as strong and invincible like God. Though this may not be theoretically true, practically it has helped man achieve the impossible many a times.

Hi, to be frank I too am an atheist but when you ask for a reason that God does exist I can give you one. Look, science says that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. Well now look up the sky and think of the Earth and other planets and stars. All they are moving and constantly as well. Now where from the energy came to keep the whole universe moving. There must have been a power that set all to one particular route to move and they are revolving. Men never did that. If not men then surely it must be a power that was/is there which is invisible. and that power is God.

i totally agree with you but i asked other people that why do they believe in god even if they have not seen it..one of my friend gave an excellent answer....pluto is a planet that you know but 1000 years ago no one knew does that mean its was not there??same is in the case of god..it has not been discovered yet.You cant just say that you dont believe in god u need a proof to believe or unbeliever it...
