I am married and have 2 children. When i was a child, i liked my parents very much, but did not like them restricting me for many things. Now after me being the father of 2, i understand that those restrictions were nothing but love and care. I think India is one of the best places were we have the good relation between parents and children.

Love and care is very important in our life. Without these feelings there is no meaning in life. Our parents loves and cares for us. They also scold us for many things, its only because of the love. In order to maintain a good relationship this loving and caring is very important.

Freedom will only be truly optimized if there is a commitment involved - and commitment means certain restrictions. People think that these restrictions oppose the freedom instead of accepting the fact that it actually nourishes it.
Parents give their children a certain amount of freedom because they want to limit their actions/activities, choices to those that would matter better in life. A basic example is how my father restricted me and my siblings from watching the television when we were young. We ended up being better students because we spent our time reading magazines, books, novels, encyclopedias, etc. instead of wasting time in front of the tube.
Thanks for the response on my discussion!
