I really wonder why people create computer viruses. A lot of them are nuisances and seem like practical jokes! Would you create a computer virus just for fun to have a little fun at someone else's expense and time? Seems like a weird thing to do!

I am quite interested about the working of a computer virus. And I have been lately trying to discover on that. It is a fun to make a virus because it is a thrilling activity. Also you can make your friends jealous if you make a virus and show it to them. I have made batch virus which can't be considered as a virus but as they are a list of commands of DOS. But I can certainly make a batch virus to format a hard disk without user intervention. It is very easy to create virus like that. But I don't do it to harm anyone. I just do it for fun and getting some knowledge about computer programming. In the end virus are just computer programs.

It is not possible to infect computers with batch virus alone. You need an extra program to inflict some damage. If you are aware of the newfolder virus, it is executed by a batch virus but the further propogation depens upon newfolder.exe Thus many virus users use batch files to initiate an attack but to contunue it you need to give control to some other program. batch virus can't do much more than deleting files or reforamtting th harddisk.

I am not that mean of a person that I would create a computer virus. I actually see no point in that. To me it is the same as someone creating a biological weapon or a virus that can wipe out life on this planet as we know it. I would regard that person the same as Adolph Hitler or Satan himself. It is no practical joke when you are looking for something and have to use the computer.

That was really naughty! Did you get caught. Was there any permanent damage?
