I was looking for a place to download music, but I am afraid that it might have viruses or something like that. I have herd that it is elegal to download songs that do not have the singers permission. I just want some new music to listen to. I do not want to get in to trouble or do anything wrong. Has anyone downloaded music before???

If you want to download music of your favorite artist, why not download music with videos? You can go onto YouTube and download any video you want for free. This is what I do. I dont keep the videos on my hard drive, but use a 2GB flash drive to store them on. There are many diferent free downloaders for YouTube and I've never had a problem with a virus from downloading off YouTube. I promise you that if you look for your favorite music on YouTube, you will find it.

I have been downloading music probably for 5 years now. I think it's illegal if you're gonna sell those music that you have downloaded, but if it's just for personal use, I think it's fine.
About the viruses, just make sure you have anti-virus programs installed in your computer. Whether you download music or just surf the internet, it's always better to have that in place.
Send me a private message so I could give you the link.
Welcome to mylot mssunloved and happy mylotting!

I've been using Limewire to download music for the past 2 years. I have yet to have any issues with viruses. The key when downloading music is not to leave it on your hard drive. Put the music on a CD or move it to an external hard drive. I had a friend that didn't know to do this so she let it sit on her computer's hard drive and ended up getting sued by all the major record labels. In the end it cost her $4,000 - American.

Honestly if you don't want to worry about legal issues at all stick with something like Itunes or Rhapsody. Otherwise I would recommend downloading via torrents, best and quickest way to download mass amounts of music. But like I said if you want to stick to the guidelines you'll have to stick with something main stream that you pay for downloads.
