Did you want a special breed? Did you want special skills? Did you fall in love with the way he/she looked at you? I wanted a german sheppheard because my last dog, my Misty, was a german shepherd. But I didnĀ“t want her to be exactly like Misty. Misty was blonde whereas Lola is a brunette beauty. Misty had long hair and Lola is a shorthaired gal. German shepheard are wonderful with children yet they are respected by strangers so they are good watchdogs. All that was something I needed too, as I have grankids and live alone. And you? How was it? Share, please.

My Blessing - We are both blessed that we chose each other
I knew I wanted a small dog and knew what I didn't want. Then I sought out what I did want. I knew that I didn't want a purebred and knew that I wanted Yorkshire Terrier in the mix. I searched and search for two years. In that time I also found that what I thought I wanted was actually not what I wanted so that was a very useful learning curve. My searched continued. I looked on all the rescue sites, regularly. When I'd see the type of dog I wanted, in public, I would run to the handler and ask where they got their dog. I would search the S.P.C.A animal shelter as well. I looked at the online classifieds. I seen a listing for a dog one day. Looked just like a Yorkie but was a cross breed and 15 months old. The story is a bit long so I will keep it short. Finally, I got to meet the dog. It was mutual love at first sight and actually my dog chose me. She came out of her kennel, and with three others sitting around the table her kennel was sat upon, she came over and licked my chin before she crawled up and rested her head on my shoulder. The dog was female and I wanted a female dog also. We went home and have had a tone of fun since. I knew some of the history of the dog, which wasn't happy. She had a tough life in all of her fifteen months. When she climbed up on me and rested her tiny head in my shoulder, I knew she would be happy with me as her handler. My little girl is an awesome watch dog as well but not a barker, ongoing. She is not aggressive, loves kids, pets and people in general. Very well behaved and doesn't shed. Plus, she is beautiful. A real cutie. I am blessed to have her as my pet and I think she is pretty happy with me too. We don't have any kids around. Not small kids but teenagers, who are my nieces. She also gets along with many other dogs. We reside alone. Roxy is getting the life she deserves. Especially after the nasty first fifteen months of her life that she had. Roxy has long hair and is soft and cuddly. Amazing for a dog, how cuddly she is. Sometimes I think she must be cross with a cat. Especially considering her ears.

i had always wanted an irish wolfhound, ever since i was a little girl. i finally got one when i was in my late 30's. he is big, big, big and very beautiful and loving. he barks at strangers, especially men, and i like that. not many people want to tackle a dog that size that is barking at them. i also have a mutt. i saw her on the web-site of the local animal shelter and fell in love with her. she has the sweetest face, and a personality to match.
