i was in active labor for 2 hours and 50 minutes.. i dilated from 0-4cm in an hour (omg, i know) and then after they broke my water, i was in labor for an hour and 50 minutes!! false labor on the other hand, I was probably in false labor for hundreds..
oh and my labor was induced with pitocin.. i started it at 12:15, had contractions but wasn't dilating. got my water broke at 8:30 and at 9:50 I had my lil one!!

My first child I was induced. I had pre-eclampsia and was induced on my due date, the next day it finally worked and I went into labour. I had 45 minutes of contractions then 2 hours of pushing im one of the lucky ones though that once the pushing stage starts I dont feel pain only the urge to push I had an easy time she was faced the wrong way and that is why she took so long to come out.
My second daughter again I was induced for numerous reasons, she was induced at 38 weeks I went into labour almost straight away I had an hour and 8 minutes of contractions and then 15 minutes of pushing(again no pain while pushing) she came out really easily I LOVED her labour it was easy and calm and exactly how I had wanted it.
First time my waters went about 15minutes after my contraction started, the second time they broke them for me.
Daughter one weighed 7lb 12oz (40+1)
Daughter two weighed 8lb 2oz (38 weeks)
Pllaning on trying for another baby at the end of the year and I can not wait labour doesnt worry me one bit the pregnancy for me is the hardest part due to health problems.

I have had two home births and I am planning a third with my baby girl. I had tummy ache and back pain all day and then before bed I began running a bath. Just then I was aware that my contractions had started. My husband began filling the birthing pool. Two midwifes arrived. I was grateful to get into the pool. My waters broke on my way to the bathroom. I gave birth on my bed which was downstairs. The placenta didn't come out so I was taken to hospital for a manual removal. I first got the contractions at 10pm and my baby son was born at 6am the next day.
I woke up with contractions coming two minutes apart. I wasn't sure if it was labor because at first it was gentle. Then it got a bit stronger and in the bathroom I saw I had a show. I phoned my mum and the hospital to speak to a midwife. My mum came round and two midwifes arrived to see my laying on my sofa. My waters broke all over my sofa. I sat up after twenty minutes of strong contractions and my son was born. So that time my labor lasted two and a half hours. I woke up at 2.30am and my son was born at just before 5am.

I had labor pains for more than 12 hours. In the end, I had an emergency C-section. It was very painful.

I was technically in labor for 2 and a half days but 2 days was early labor with more braxton hicks than anything else, and well it was bad enough to where I really didn't get much sleep, the nurse doubted that I was in labor though because my contrations didn't last long enough they were only about 20 seconds apart, but I came in anyway because I didn't know what to expect. well I was 4 cm already so they broke my water and it went smoothly 12 hours after that. well semi smooth lol, I got some pain medication that would help me get a few hours rest while I was waiting for my cervix to dilate, thank goodness for that but I didn't have enough energy to push my son so I had to have help with a suction, but he came out as healthy as ever :3

My water broke right after my first contraction! My labor was 14 and a half hours long. I had to have a c-section! I stopped dilating at 4 inches! When my doctor di the c-section she found out my son wasn't turning like he should of and was stuck in the birthcanal! My son was the only child I had and I'm so grateful I never had another baby! Labor sucks!

With my oldest son my water broke first. That was about 4 in the morning. Then the contractions came. The doctor ended up giving me an episiotomy to help ease with the delivery. All in all it took about 5 and a half hours.
With my youngest son, the contractions came first. That was about 3:30 or so in the morning. The contractions were pretty light so my husband and I decided to wait for them to get stronger before leaving for the hospital. About 2 and a half hours later they had gotten pretty strong, so we took off for the hospital. By the time we got there I was 9 centimeters dilated, but my water hadn't broken yet. The doctor decided to wait to break my water (I think to see if it would break on it's own). Finally after waiting over 2 hours the doctor broke it for me. And after he did, my baby was born 4 minutes later. All in all it took about 6 hours.
As you probably noticed by now both were normal deliveries.

I had contractions before baby was every born. With the first two I had contractions a good 12 hrs before I went to the hospital. Mine never came on full blown or anything just dull cramps where you weren't sure if it was Braxton-hicks or if it was the real deal. My water also had to be broken in the hossy with my girls. My lil guy his broke a lil bit @ home and fully broke in the hospital parkinglot

mine was a c-section because one of my twin was breech. But my cousin had 24 hours contractions and after that they induced pain by giving medicine. they gave medicine in the morning around 8 am and she delivered a baby boy around 12.30 night. It varies from people to people. You cannot rely on anybody's answer. be calm and do the lamaze excercise. You will be fine. good luck

Lets see with my son, he was my first, my water broke at 3:30 in the morning which woke me up and then I didnt really have contractions until we got to the hospital and they hooked me up on the monitor... of course my first contraction spiked at 80....LOL after that I said I wanted the epidural... which I got...17 hours later they had to do an emergency C-sect due to complications with my bladder. --but I was just glad to have him out!!
my daughter, my second, she was a planned C-sect and I started having small contractions with her for a day or two, then they put me on a stress test and said "yep, you are in labor" and that was at 10 in the morning, at 5 pm she was born c-sect and because they were going to give me a spinal they didnt give me anything... I had contractions all day, and they werent as bad the second time... I managed through them... LOL not that I want to do that all the time!!

You will notice that all labours will be different.
I have gone through 2 and both was different.
My first woke me in the early hours of the morning. Probably around 4 in the morning. I felt it was going slowly. My waters had not broken. By around midday, I couldn't take it any longer. I went to the hospital. I was only 4 cm dialated. The staff had to break the waters for me.
When the time was right, I started pusing at 7:20pm. My first born arrived at 7:40pm. I was told that it was quick for the first born child.
My second, woke me even earlier in the morning. My waters broke on their own. Started heading into hospital straight away. When I was arrived, I was 8 cm dialated. I was rushed into delivery room. With a few pushes, my second born was out. This was only a few hours from waking up with contractions.
Even from my 2 stories, both of mind were different. Each labour and delivery is different.

i had a great labour......and quicker that i thought it would be.
my waters went at 2am and i waited until 5am before going the hospital as my contractions were 4 mins apart.
i had our little girl at 3:50pm
so from my waters going to pushing her out it was only about 14 hours
