Do you have a problem with using public pools ?

I have that problem .I know many persons will say that the pools are chlorinated and all but I canst somehow get over the notion that many persons perform many bodily functions in these pools (Hope I didn’t gross out anyone but that is how I feel).Consequently when I go to hotels it takes me an extremely long time to go into the pool,if I ever go at all. So are there any one else out there with these peculiarities or am I the only weirdo? ,Is it weird ? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Yes I do have problem with using public pools. I just think that it's "unhygenic" not clean enough for me and to add to that yes what you were thinking, what other people have done to the pool. You never know, even if there is chlorine in it and I hate that smell, I still feel a sense not being comfortable in there. Mine as well buy my own pool.

No, it's not weird. I'm sure that lots of people share your opinion. I do sometimes go to public pools, but I agree that they're not the most hygienic of places! I don't over-worry about the germs and things there, but they often don't really look that clean, so that does reduce my enjoyment of the experience. There was one time though when I was supposed to take my daughter to her swimming lesson when I got a phone call to say that the pool was closed as they had to drain it due to one kid having a stomach bug. They didn't give me the details, but they didn't need to, lol! That really grossed me out. But strangely it still hasn't put me off public pools!

Not really as long as it is properly maintained with chlorine. One of my friends says there is a chemical you can put in the pool and if someone urinates in it the chemical turns the water a different color. So who ever is doing the nasty gets caught!

I think you are correct but it works if you tell kids that as they do not pee in the pool thinking everyone will notice!

I think that's an urban legend, but I could be wrong!

Oh no I don't think you're weirdo or anything. I wont swim in public pools for the very same reason. And as for the color changing chemicals, I can tell you as a pool owner there are no such chemicals. But the idea works with kids LOL! I have a sign when you go thorugh the gate to my pool that says "Welcome to my OOL at the bottom it says "notice the P is missing, let's keep it that way!" I use a lot of chlorine in my pool because urine breaks down the chlorine quickly. And just as a point of interest it would be impossible to use enough chlorine in a public pool to eliminate the urine with so many pople swimming in it. Just some need to know info there! When young kids swim in our pool we do potty breaks every 30-45 minutes. Whether you gotta go or not you gotta get out! LOL Sad part is kids are not the problem...it's lazy adults!!!LOL

Hi ronnyb, I don't think that you are weird at all. I live in a mobile home park and I do not swim in the pool. I think of all the kids that are probably peeing in the water and it grosses me out. There were a couple of times that they had to shut it down because someone actually pooped in the water. Now, that really grossed me out! If I was at a hotel I might swim in there pool. It would depend on if there were a lot of people or not. I have been to hotel pools where I was the only one in the pool. This I can handle. If the pool is crowded, especially with children, then I don't swim. Happy swimming!

Yeah, I was the same way when I was little, but now I think its disgusting. I can't believe how lazy people are to not walk to the bathroom.

I don't even think about it to be honest, and I like to think that the chlorine is doing it's job and killing the bacteria from bodily functions etc, I am more concerned about picking up verrucas and foot infections from others which can be easily spread especially when walking around bare foot and can be easily transmitted especially at poolsides. You are certainly not a weirdo and I think it's down to each person's perspective and views. I just love the water full stop and I feel much safer swimming in a pool than the ocean, because of the currents, what's in the sea (sewage, sea animals like sharks and jellyfish) and rocks etc. That is my opinion anyhow, enjoy swimming!

I do not like going to public pools anymore either. I do not think it is very clean because alot of people use it and kids pee in it also. I don't think you are weird at all.

I don't use them b/c I don't like the idea of swimming around in water that others have peed in. Not to mention that public pools are usually overrun with kids running, jumping, goofing around and it just b/c too much of a hassle to avoid getting hit or kicked by an overactive kid. I love to swim but prefer a private pool. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I dont have an issue with pools but then i think you swim in a lake and people drive boats in them - which leak oil, fish and other animals perform bodily functions in there...and its not cholrinated. The other thing that ickies me out is so often cities towns etc take water from the lakes rivers etc...yes its run through a cleaner but then guess where the sewage gets let out in after its gone through the treatment plants...and then the next town does the same thing.

No I do not think that you are weird. It is absolutely fine as I also dislike going in the public pool. It is really unhygenic from my point of view and my sub counscious some how does not allow my to get into such a pool.

I am luckey that I have a river beside my town and I have enjoyed swimming a lot in that. So, I have never experieinced a pool and always wanting to go and have a try but once my friend warned me that could be dangerous to your health and I dropped the idea of even have one try to that for two reasons: 1. They will charge on hourly basis, 2. That can't be said hygienic.

You are not weird at all, in fact I know a lot of people who feel the same way. I have been taking my little daughter swimming in the public pool since she was one year old and I admit, I felt a little squeamish about getting in at first, especially when (this is really gross!) I have seen little kids do 'number twos' and left 'it' floating on the water; we would get told to get out whenever this happened and the staff would disinfect the pool of course but it was still pretty yukky! I got over my repulsion because it meant a lot to my child that I swim with her. She's seven now and can swim by herself, thankfully!

Hello my friend ronnyb Ji, I do agree with you, but what is the best way to stop hrnce-forth with. Let's be very frank, at tinmes such practices may be due to natural requirements and may not be possible to go out and return back after completing those urges. I hope , you understand. I further would like to add that it is not with some purpose. May God bless you and have a great time.

Well at first I did not. I would rather be in a public pool than an ocean or lake that has all kinds of parasites in the water. But since I thought about what you said, I would not want to swim in a public pool with many people. You are right, there are people that can urinate in the waters and that can cause germs. And them some people may not be so clean as they are in there. I guess I would only have to trust my own public pool. If I have one, I will have it fenced in where my family will be the only persons in it. These days we all have to be cautious what we get ourselves exposed to. I am not being funny but that is how I feel. You are not weird, I don't seem to think so, you are just being wise. And that is what we all need to try to start being like.
