Is this flattering or upsetting to you?

Sometimes you start a discussion and it connects with other members, so there are many responses being posted there. A short time later, you might notice a differently worded title for essentially the same topic/discussion. Maybe the copy is even located in the exact same interest board? Sometimes you might find the same discussion started by someone else on a different board. Is it just coincidence? Are you flattered or upset when another member copies your discussion?

I have yet to see someone copy my discussion but I have seen copies of discussions by other users. When this happens I report them immediately.
We are paid for original effort here and there is no reason why a user copying someone else's ideas should earn for doing so.

This is an excellent point mysdianait. I would just like to add that someone who is truly trying to copy is not only negatively affecting the member with the original post, but every other earner as well. Revenue is shared on myLot and everyone's earnings are reduced when some cheat. Thanks for the insightful post. Cheers.

That is a good point too!
Many realise that it is teamwork here but many have not grasped that concept. I suggested that in one of my older discussions trying to get the point across that when a user cheats then he/she is also cheating his/her friends. Some got the point but sadly not all as it is still happening.
Maybe one day the world will be as one
and hopefully myLot will be then too

Some people don't just have trouble with that concept in the context of our myLot community. Think about the people who rationalize shoplifting with the words "it only affects faceless corporations". If only it were true. Prices are just increased and everyone else pays more in order to cover the costs of theft. Advocates for illegal immigration often use excuses such as "these people are only trying to find a better life for themselves and their children". Nobody seems to mind that when wages are driven down, thousands of families suffer. When remittances are sent home, the host economy is negatively effected and jobs are lost. Taxes are increased to deal with the added costs and burdens to the community and everyone else pays more. Never mind total harmony, I'd settle for people following the rules.

Hi bayernfan, I never let it bother me at all, in fact I rarely notice if anyone does copy my discussion. I feel that they may be able to put a little different spin on it or may have different friends who will be more likely to reply to their posts. Blessings.

I notice copies happening occasionally on my normal course of business here, but I don't go scouring myLot trying to find them. I'm usually too busy with other things on myLot to get upset by that sort of activity even if I was inclined to do so. From what I can tell, most of the copied discussions get closed down. They are usually started by new members, sometimes with a poorer command of English, and they rarely have more than a few sentences to go on. I only ever recall seeing direct copies fizzle out after a few posts. I often wonder, why have you chosen my post to copy when there are so many more posts that attract a lot more attention? Cheers.
