MyLot... How exactly does it work? It probably sounds like a stupid and pathetic question, but in all fairness, I'm blonde, polish, AND female. I have 3 strikes against me LOLOL.
I don't know how long I've been a member of mylot, but I was only really responding to discussions sent to me on the digest that was emailed to me daily. And that wasn 't a daily thing because there were some discussions I just couldn't relate to so I ignored and moved on to the next.
I've been spending more time on MyLot lately and would really like to get the full feel of the site. so, I have a few questions.
1) Do you get paid more for starting a discussion or responding to a discussion or is it the same amount either way?
2) What are the tasks and how does someone get it available for them? Do you earn extra for completing tasks?
3) What's the difference between discussions and blogs?
4) What are the best ways to find discussions you really truely can relate to?
5) What is the point of the photo's section?
6) What's the most you have ever earned in 1 day on MyLot and how long were you on MyLot that night? (For example, you just cashed out so your balance was at $0 when you logged in, you spent 1 hour on mylot, when you log in the next day, what's your balance?)
I may or may not have more questions but when I do something, I like to put my all into it and give it my best shot. I can't wait to hear your answers to my 6 questions as well as any other tips you may have on how to get the full experience of MyLot?
Thanks!

I appreciate your hunger to know more about mylot but most of the question will be answered at mylot faq section which Mysdianait has already provided.
As for your question:
1)Starting discussion, responding as well as commenting is also very important.
2)You can see the tasks available in "Tasks" tab. Mos of the time you will get a task in US noon time. And yes you get paid by task once task creator accepts your tasks.
3)There is a big difference between discussion and blogs. You don't get paid for blogs.
4)You have to surf and surf to get to know about your interest area.
5)you get paid for images once you get rating for an image you have posted.
6)I can't answer this question as this is against mylot guidelines. I use to mylot for 4-5 hours.

I think you might make more if you start a discussion that others find interesting enough to respond to. If you get no responses,of course, you make less.
I don't find the tasks worth it. Others may disagree.
I agree with the person who said you need to comment on what others say in your discussion to make it a real discussion and therefore increasing the interest factor and earnings.
You get a penny or two for posting pictures that are relevant to the discussion that you are responding to.
Three more posts Fran and we will see what color your star is. Good luck!

You earn your star when you hit 100 posts.
Replying to a discussion is me making a post on the discussion you started.
Commenting to a discussion is you making a comment on the reply someone else made to the discussion you have already started.

You can find the answers to your queries here:
http://www.mylot.com/o/faq.aspx
No-one except the admin and each individual user knows how much we are paid. We are all different and as each user has a different way of participating, we all earn differently. Just look atthese first three responses to see what a difference there is.
The tasks an extra way of earning and, when there are any available, can be found under the 'tasks'tab aboce this discussion. Here is the dicussion started by myLot when they introduced them:
http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1944218.aspx?p=1
You can refer tothe FAQs for the rest of the answers.
You should also read the Guidekines to know what you can do and still be within the rules. If a discussion or a response contains a violation it will be deleted causing loss of earnings.
You will NOT get rich here but you can learn a lot and make a few friends while earning a bit extra.
Good luck and happy Lotting!

Hello Mysdianait,
THank you so much for your answers. I feel really guilty now for asking some of the questions.
Thank you for pointing out the link for the FAQ and the guidelines. I don't know how I missed them!
Your response was very thorough and right to the point!

Hi! The way I see it, you're really doing good. You're having discussions with those who reply to your post, and that's basically how it is. Although, I would suggest you go out too and read discussions of other mylotters and comment on their posts. It will do a great deal. But I'm pretty sure, you're also doing that.
As to the how much, I don't think there's nobody here who have yet decipher the way mylot computes the monetary value of each discussions.
One thing is for sure, the more you enjoy mylot, the more you earn.
Good luck! and see you 'round!
