My Gracie Is Gone

She passed away around 9 or 10 this morning. I found her on the floor by my dresser. She wouldn't eat for days so I knew the end was near so I stayed with her all the time or had my mom come and sit with her when I had to go to the dentist yesterday so she wouldn't be alone. She never cried out or acted like she was in any pain. Hubby went to the vet's office and bought a cardboard made casket for her to be buried in and now he's going to buy a piece of cloth that she loved so much that is very much like the blanket that she loved and kneaded on, to be buried with to take with her to Heaven. I've been crying all day long because I love and miss her so much but I know it's for the best because she was so sick. God help my heart!

Thank you savypat. It is hard having pets because they become a part of the family and when they go, it's a big loss that the whole family feels. Right now my eyes are burning from all the crying I've done. I spent most of the afternoon with her at her grave and as I've done for all the others, she has a bouquet of flowers on her grave.

Thank you dawnald. She was a beauty, no doubt. She had such beautiful eyes that I've ever seen and I don't know why they wouldn't show up in pictures but they just wouldn't. They were a dark periwinkle blue.... very very pretty. I used to call her my beautiful blue eyes.

I am glad you did all you could for your Gracie. It is a blessing that she did not cry out or act as if she was in pain. What Hospice says about people is that when the end is near and they stop eating and drinking it allows their body to produce more endorphins to keep them from pain. I would guess that is true about our pets as well. I am sad for you, but you guys did your best.

Thanks GG. Yes we did all we could for her. Her heart was enlarged which was causing her lungs to fill up with fluid. Her heart was going to burst in time but if we were able to keep the fluids off of her lungs with medication, which we did, then she might be able to live longer but then she got dehydrated from the medication so I gave her gatorade every day then it was every other day. Then she quit eating. She wouldn't even eat her treats and when that happened, I knew it was the end so I stopped giving her gatorade and kept watching her just in case she showed some signs of pain then I'd take her straight to the vet's office and have her put down humanly but it didn't happen. She went on her own. She'll forever be with me because she was such a big part of my day because she was with me all the time. Very rarely did she go outside and it was never for long.
Thanks for your sweet words Oreo.... I just hope I make it to Heaven at all but I'm not looking for any special treatment though. I just do what I have to and love doing it. The hard part is parting from them when they go. BTW, Sassy is sitting here right beside me and she says MEOW! I think that means, hello mommy and I love you!

I am so sorry to hear that.
Pets are a part of the family. They are like your children.
It is so devastating when they go.
My thoughts are with you.
Hugs.

I've been keeping busy to keep my mind occupied but I think it's more like a shock period because I knew it was coming because she kept getting worse but still, we never really prepare ourselves for such things.... She's no doubt having a wonderful time with her new body but dang I miss her so much....

Oh sweetheart! I'm so very sorry about your wonderful Gracie! My heart goes out to you honey. I wish I could say something that would give you comfort right now, but I know words don't help a lot when your heart is hurting like this. I'm sending lots of love and hugs to you...I wish I could be there to give them to you in person. Rest in peace dear sweet Gracie...we all love you and your mama very very much. I just lit a candle for both of you.

Thanks flyinglove. No there isn't much anyone can say really but knowing that you cared enough to care and to let me know that you care says a lot and I thank you for that. I've been down this road before, so many times before and got past it some how and I shall get past this too some how. She'll always be in my heart just like all the others are and always will be.

You might be thinking of Sassy, Oreo's kitty.... She's still with me and is doing fine. I don't think I've ever posted Gracie's picture on here when she was a kitten because I didn't know about mylot back then. I agree with you though, she is in Heaven running and playing with her new body but dang, I sure do miss her but I'll get to see her one day, God willing.

Again hun... I am so sorry for yur loss. I know you loved her very much and can take some comfort in the fact that you made her life better in her last days.
Is she the kitty you got through mylot? That was you wasn't it? I have such a bad memory and can't be sure but I remember someone getting a cat from a fellow mylotter and for some reason I think it was you.

No, the one you're thinking of is Sassy. I still have her and she's such a sweetheart! I've attached a picture of her. Gracie is my avatar picture, she's a siamese and a beautiful opinionated one at that. lol I so love the breed and will try getting another one some day but for now, having 9 cats and 4 dogs is enough. Not that I love them any less, it's just enough to handle right now.

Thank you PurpleTeddyBear. She was a part of our family. There's an awful void here. I think I'm in shock today, not sure because although I knew it was going to happen when she kept getting worse and worse but it doesn't make it any easier. However, knowing she's in Heaven and with a new body, that does help a little bit.... xx

I was only just thinking about you and Gracie and how she was doing as I know she had been sick for quite awhile, so you can only imagine how sad and badly I feel to learn of your loss. Gracie is no doubt frolicking and playing with all my furbabies in Rainbow Bridge. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to you CatsandDogs

Did your pet pass away too? It is hard to lose a pet but knowing we'll meet on the "other side" with God, it does give us some consolation.

Gosh, she was my baby girl and I loved her so much and she knew it too.... she loved my hubby too for she'd sit in his lap in the kitchen when he was watching tv and if he didn't sit still for her she'd bite him! lol She had such a great personality and that's why I loved her so much. At least now she's got a new body and is happy in Heaven. I'll see her again one day.

I send my deepest condolence to you. I am saddened by the passing of your beloved pet. But you should be thankful for the many years she has provided you in her loving company and as in everything else, all good things must come to an end. Her time has come and let her rest in peace.

Thank you Chevee. I think today I'm in shock or I knew it was going to happen and just can't feel the pain today because I've been so busy all day long that I tried hard not to think about it but it came to mind so many times anyway. I'm just glad she's at peace and my heart will be too in time but right now I'm just numb.

Dearest CatsandDogs: I am so sorry to hear this; My heart is breaking for you;
Nothing hurts me more than to lose a beloved pet; I can hardly type now for the tears in my own eyes;
Each of our babies are so very special to us, just know that we will all meet up again some day in heaven; She will be one of many I am sure that will be racing to welcome and greet you;
You have a very nice and loving husband, to be doing what he did for you and for
Gracie; That is very rare!!
I know its hard when we lose our best friends I too recently lost my dear Minx
I've no idea what happened to her, one minute she is healthy and alive and well as far as I knew, I took her out to the farm to visit her buddies my dogs, and on about day 4 of being out there, she was gone; I've still no idea what happened to her, unless she went off to die; She was getting old but not that old;
Her loss is a mystery for me, I too miss her!!
My heart goes out to you!!!
Love & hugs

I am so sorry catsand dogs. I know how much you loved her. I shed a tear myself. She was such a beautiful kitty. I am sorry it took me so long to see your post but I have been very ill. I know what you are going through. It is the hardest thing in the world. I will say a prayer for gracie as she is now in the rainbow bridge with my pepper and stuffy. She is happy, and young and healthy. Just waiting for you to join her someday. Keep thinking of that and it will comfort you.
Peace be with you and take care

Hi lagirl.... I hope by now you're doing better! Sorry I haven't called you yet, it's because partly because of Gracie and other things then my memory box gets so tired that I forget. I still have your number and will call one of these days. How is it going with the lawyer?
Anyway, thank you for your kind words. I do miss her something terrible. Like tonight when we sat down to eat dinner, she always sat beside me on "her" chair and then would get in my lap. She wouldn't bother my food at all because she was soooo picky, it's a wonder I got her to eat cat food! lol She was my baby girl or even baby blue eyes because she had the most beautiful blue eyes that I've ever seen and probably never see again. They were a dark periwinkle blue. Very very pretty. It's going to take some time to get past this but she'll never be far from my heart, that's for sure. Whew....

When I found her, hubby wanted to hug me but I pushed him away. I just wasn't ready for that just yet. He understood and knows how I am. We've been huggy huggy a few hours later once I got myself together.
About the lawyer, hubby was told to keep calling them to find out the status of your case. Even every day but he doesn't do that but hey, if you want to, it's your prerogative, ya know? They could get tired of your calls and push your case through faster.
Good luck!!

Hi catsanddogs,
I didn't want to talk to anyone after my babies passed. So don't worry about it. I was so depressed and crying over them it took a while to get back to reality. Lately, I found out I have a sinus infection, and get this .. a buldging disc in my back. It has been very painful but hopefully I will get to feeling better. It is going ok with the lawyer. I haven't heard anything for a while though. I wish it didn't take so long. Remember that time is the best medicine for greiving. It will get better. And you are lucky that you have other kitties in the house to love.
Take care

I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is, my heart breaks for you. I don't have any wise words to take the pain away, but you know that you gave her the very best life she could have and she always knew she was loved. I am so sorry for your pain, I hope you will find healing and peace. The grief of the loss never really goes away, but it does become bearable with time. May God Bless Gracie's soul and bring her into his warm embrace in heaven, where she will be watching over you until you can be together again. May God Bless you and grant you the strength to get through this and may your beautiful sweet heart find healing. You have my deepest sympathies.
