I just finished a baby quilt and listed it on etsy. It is a very country type baby quilt that is very snuggly.
I come from a family of quilters. I love quilts. I love making quilts. I love looking at quilting books and magazines.
Here is a pic of my baby quilt. Please share yours too.

I own several quilts that my grandmothers and great grandmothers made. I have no living grandparents so they are precious to me.

Rotary cutters are great for people who cannot cut straight.

It is very lovely.
I never made one.
I have seen many different quilts on the internet, they are all in amazing patterns, and people like to give instructions for every little steps. I want to make one too, but do you think I could make this by my favorite flowery clothes, I mean do I need to buy swatches to make quilts? I knew I can buy it on ebay, but do you really think I need to buy instead of using my old clothes?

My grandmother never bought swatches or material to quilt with and she made lots of quilts. She used the clothing that her children outgrew and the clothing that friends and relatives gave to her to make her quilts. I will tell you her quilts are still beautiful and durable and warm and cozy today. My grandmother passed away when I was 16 ( I will 38 this year but everytime I cuddle into one of her quilts I think of her.).

Really? Thank you for much for your information.
Then I will go for my first quilt!!! ^.^
I like to keep things from my late grandmother too, some relatives of mine don't like to keep those, and think they brings bad luck, but I don't think so, I keep all most things of my grandma's and I am a very lucky woman.
So it is quite good that the custom of quilting is not passing.

I do not quilt. I often make baby afghans. Really have not done much creative in a long time. I want to, though. I have lots of quilting books, and stuff from magazines. I keep thinking I will get old and retire and have some fun, we will see. I hate to put it off that long.

I refuse to wait until retirement age to live my dream LOL. It is hard work though trying to make a go at it. My dream is to have my crafts support me atleast half the year. I am trying to get some stuff made up so that I can do a flea market or two soon. I list every thing I make on etsy and the weekend I decide to do a flea market/craft show I will put my shop on vacation mode so that I can take everything and hopefully sell it.

I have been looking at quilt sells on etsy and it does seem to be decent so that is why I am giving it a try. LOL. The only "problem" with etsy is you have to promote your shop and your items. But they have really good tools to do that with.

The ties are double knotted extremely tightly. A baby could not untie them or get them loose. Most of the time a quilt like this would become a keepsake or heirloom item and would not be used on a daily basis. I do other quilts that are actually quilted instead of tied but I thought this one looks great tied.

I don't quilt, but my step-family on my Mom's side is Mennonite, and my step-grandmother is old order. She is one of the best quilters I know. Her work is absolutely amazing. I own two of her quilts, and I just love them to pieces. some day when we get a bigger house and a bigger bed, we will be able to use them.

That is one thing I would so love to learn how to do. The only thing I can do even close are the two sided blankets that use the fleece material. You simply the tie all the ends together and it makes fringe around all the edges. I make at least two of those every single Christmas, and many friends are now saying things such as "You made such and such one...when am I going to get mine?"

The only quilt I ever made was part made in a kit and I just had to run a sewing machine around it to complete. I made it for my eldest and still have it somewhere.
I love quilts and would love to try quilting properly one day. You're very skilled to make such beautiful items.

Hi, sweetdesign! No, I don't quilt. But my mother had a quilt that she used to love. My grandmother told me that she used to cover herself with it a lot. She gave it to me to use at night. I loved it. And when my daughter was about to be born, I was about 6 months pregnant. And for my baby shower, the ladies at an Baptist church made a thin quilt for her. It had designs on the front and the back. It was very pretty. I loved it! Having a quilt is a cherishable thing to have! Her quilt was pink and light pink. Very beautiful!
