A Listener is Often Well Liked By People

I've always noted that the rare breed of genuine listeners is decreasing fast. Like endangered species. And we know that all endangered things become priceless. So people scour the earth daily trying to find those who'd listen well to their stories. That's how people get to like you. That's how even the cruelest bosses get to like you. I should know. I have experienced this phenomenon ever since I landed on a job in my youth.
I saw that they began liking me simply because I listened. Sincerely. I didn't give them smart remarks or wise counsels, and yet they ended up saying I could handle well a "great conversation." Huh? I didn't say anything, except, "uhuh" and "okay." Well, I also smiled and nodded and looked sympathetic.
And perhaps, this is also why God likes good listeners. He pays attention to their simple, short, but sincere prayers. Well, it's just my hunch.
