Do you consider a book based on its popularity?

I think I am the only bookworm on the Earth who has not read a single word of Harry Potter. I do not watch the show, neither do I read the book review of the book. That's simply the kind of book I do like to read, whether so popular or not.
But for other kind of books, especially finance and investment related books, I will read every single book I can find. Those popular ones are easier to find in the national library, so I will read those first.

Hi, Katherleen! No, I don't rave about it if it is popular. I still will buy a book even if no one had heard a thing about it. And if I heard that a book is popular then I will be kind of interested and look more into it. But, I will not go crazy about it. After all it is a book that I will think about reading.

It really depends. Buzz about a book might intrigued me enough to look it up, and see what is it about. However, I would ask for opinions from fellow readers who shared the same kind of taste as I do in books, and if they say it's good, I'll probably read it.
I prefer reviews by reader friends than just any random reviewer I'm not familiar with. There are some books I will break down and try if the buzz is really huge just to check it out. I did that with the Harry Potter books (no regret there...Love the books) and the Twilight saga (fun light reads, nothing spectacular). However, I would probably have ended picking these books up even without the popularity because they do belong to a genre I enjoy.

I don't care if anyone else is reading just as long as I want to read it.

yes I consider books are based on its popularity because most readers are looking for the well-known authors of the book especially novels. They will rather read books for their favorite authors.
