for being a member here, and spending so much time in here? Or are they Glad you are a member here, and earn extra $$ from this site? I have friends I work with that even though they think it is Cool that I am earning extra $$ from being a member here, they would not be interested due to lack of time, or lack of things they would want to talk about for sure.
Then my Family members for the most part really are not interested in anything like this, and never seem to spend any time online to even consider being here. And then I have had a couple of close friends who are Referrals in here, but none of them have really made me any real $$ in here as well.
So what about you? Are your friends and families your Referrals, or do they think you are crazy and wasting your time being here as well?
Wishing you all the Best.

I haven't actually told many people that I am trying to make money on line. Why???? Because yes, they would think that I'm crazy. My husband just kind of chuckles at me, "have you made another penny or two today?" But other than that and one of my good friend I haven't mentioned it. The good frend that I did tell is a referral and a very good one. Other than that I guess that it's my little secret.

I look at it this way, people are on Facebook and Myspace and make absolutely nothing. I make a little bit here, so I am ahead of the game, actually.

None of my family or friends know I'm a member here, so I guess you can say that the answer to your question is no. I'm really the only one in my family who uses the internet anyway so I don't guess it really matters to them either way. I kind of know how you feel with the referrals though. At the moment I only have one and he wasn't all that active the one week he was posting.

It may take sometime for someone to understand the working of mylot and the benefits derived from being an active member here. I have not come across anyone who thinks am crazy for participating in mylot. I would say if a person is not into writing she will never find this place interesting. This place requires a strong interest in writing to be able to get the ideas across. That is why we see many people who registered today and leave within a week as they can't find any interest in mylot and maybe lack of ideas to do posting. Only like minded people are able to remain here for long.

Hi,Krause.Nice to meet you here.
Well, I have tree referrals, you know, but they all are not so participated here,in fact,they dont believe they would earn much money here, so have no vigor to do that. And just as you post, my colleagues dont believe i could earn here,so i should get some success . I believe i can change their mind!lol

The referrals I have are family members, and they understand, although they do not share my passion. I have lots of friends here that I did not have before. My regular world friends are not interested however. I just look at this as a place that is therapeutic for me, and that I earn a little bit from.

my family are dinosaurs they do not even have a computer, just me and my son. They don't understand that I make money sometimes quite a bit from various writing sources and this money helps pay my bills.

I don't have any referrals. I am a referral for someone else though. She introduced me to mylot although right now she isn't active here. And no wonder with all the things going on in her own life. I have friends who I think would like this site, but I KNOW they wouldn't try it. I've brought it up to one person in particular and they weren't receptive to the idea, so I didn't press it.
Now my parents on the other hand think it is great. Since I don't have the internet at my apartment right now I only get to use it at their house. They know how frustrating it is for me to be on disability. I'm 28 and I feel like I'm missing out on a lot. Because my hands are tied so financially, they are happy I've found some things online that I do that make me feel like I'm contributing to my own life. And I have to say, I've learned so much on mylot.

I have Hubby, my Mom, one of my brothers and a cousin on here. Hubby is seriously thinking of leaving b/c he's burned out on it, my Mom is rarely ever on...in fact it's been a good 6 months since she's been here, my brother left b/c of disagreements and my cousin is on again off again type thing.
I used to talk to my family alot about the discussions on here but I rarely mention it anymore. I just do what I want and move on.

I think most of them think it's a waste of time....to each their own....my one sister reads all the time...my other hardly stays home and is on the go....but I am really the only one in my family including my kids that likes something like this.....I love meeting the people here....love the discussions....and the little money I make is just a fringe benefit to meeting new people....we are lucky to like this place! LOL

I have invited my friends and family to join but they all think it is a waste of time. I look at it saying that they are missing out on something really good.

I have a few friends that signed up but they only made like 1 or 2 post have not seen them back. Don't know what thats about. maybe they didn't like it.
I like it hear because everyone is so nice and helpful and I enjoy learning new things. and voicing my opinion and helping others and giving advice.

I've just started here on mylot, so I really haven't earned much to speak of. I've told my husband about it and he doesn't seem too interested at the moment. Maybe once I earn a little, he'll come around. He does spend a lot of time online, but he is a natural skeptic. The way I see it, I get to do all the things that I was doing for free, but maybe get a small reward for it too! It's a win-win situation. I'd be interested in any suggestions that more seasoned mylotters have, like how to make the most of mylot, earn some extra cash and get some good referrals. I'm very happy to be part of this community. Thanks!

My family knows about My Lot. At first they think I'm crazy
but I told them that this site is not scam. Actually it's my sister
who refer me to my lot. She's not really as active as me. I found
My Lot very informative and entertaining.

Hi Tina: I've not been able to convince any of my immediate family and friends just what it is I do on here; Their loss not mine besides if they are not on here;
Then I can still talk about them huh? LOL! One way to look at it (G)!!!!
But that's ok, I'm so glad Jerzgirl kept after me to JOIN on here;
I do love and Lord knows I need the extra bit of income I earn from here;
Sure would be nice to get some referrals under me here but I doubt that ever happens;
if not that's ok too!!!

My family don't think i am crazy, but wasting time. My family said a lot things you can do without myloting. After they see it can practice my English, so i should stay in mylot. My friends talk to me, and he is not interest with mylot because he didn't known about mylot. I will explain to my friends until they want to joining in mylot.

On the contrary, my husband is glad that i find myLot such a wonderful place for me to exercise my brain by practicing English and getting my ideas out from my head. He knows i like discussing with people be they family and friends or total strangers. Those close to me know that i am a a frustrated journalist. My husband is laughing right now because i couldn't get the word "frustrated" from my rusty brain! (See? I tend to forget certain ordinary words! I'm afraid that gray matter inside my head is losing more cells daily and that slowly brings me to senility!) He just asked why i took up engineering instead of journalism. Well, that's another long story.
There are just the two of us here and since the day i joined myLot he hardly gets a turn in using the internet. That's how supportive he is. He even bought me a dictionary just in case he is not around to answer my queries. And when he is here just like today he is ever ready to help me with a sentence or two even if it distracts him from his favorite pastime, watching dvd.
I have only two referrals, they are neighbors who i know are also spending time infront of the computer. But only one of them, a housewife, posted a topic (which was deleted!) and the other one, a teacher, who posted not a single word said she is shy and is afraid her English is not that good and it would be read by anybody using myLot!
I have invited others but it's either they do not really have the time or are just not interested in writing. I'm just one happy person who has a sister in law (my husband's eldest sis) who referred me here and has opened up new horizons for me.
Hi tina! (incidentally, my real nickname is also tina!)

Some laugh at me. Some just don't give a fart about what I do here. But they just don't what fun they have missed for not joining. I mean being able to participate in discussions have been enjoyable for me. There's always joy in being able to discuss things with other people and money is just a bonus for that.
