We all know that it is really nice to donate blood, for it can help those who need blood transfution urgently.
But someone says that you might get infected by AIDS or other infectious in blood donaton. It does happen, as I know. Though the number of such case is really little, but the risk does exist.
And I also know another example that a girl finds her body recovers very slow and she often feel dizzy after blood donation. Thouht it is said that blood donation helps blood of our body refresh, but if you are in a busy days and in a not really good health state, blood donation is not a good idea.
I have never donated my blood, not because of worrying the infection or affection of my health, but because here in China a girl should be heavier than 45kg that should she be allowed to donate blood. And I am unfortunately lighter than that.
Have you ever donated blood? What do you think about that?

I've donated blood several times. The risk of getting AIDS from blood donation is so small, and requires the medical team that takes the blood to be so careless...
Here we use only new tools to take blood, so no risk there.
I think it is very important, as there are many people who need blood donations, and people say this is healthy as well, so why not?
I hope you would gain some weight - less than 45 KG sounds too thin to me...

I used to donate blood whenever I could. I can't donate now because of the medicine that I am taking. If I gave blood now it would lessen the amount of medicine that is in my body and make me sick. Hopefully one day I will be able to donate blood again. I am not worried about the risk of infection because it's so small and because the places that take your blood seem to take the right precautions.

It is good to donate blood to a needy person. We should do it only if our body is healthy.Yes there is a risk involved in transfer of blood.I donated blood when i was in final year graduation.I started feeling very weak after that. From that time my mom told me not to donate blood.

Great to be healthy if our blood can be donated to other. As we know, we share love to each other that we care our society all the time. Meanwhile, we contribute and not selfish in life.

I work in a blood bank. Actually, I work in an animal blood bank, so we collect blood from volunteer pets (dogs and cats) to transfuse in other dogs and cats in the emergency ward in our animal hospital. But the principles and much of the equipment for blood donation is the same regardless of species. If the proper, sterile supplies are used there is almost no risk in donating blood. If the proper lab testing is done on the blood, there is very little risk of the patient getting a blood-borne illness. It's only risky is the needles and equipment aren't clean or if the proper blood testing isn't done. There's a reason why they ask you a million questions before you donate blood. At our lab, we run every blood test available to make sure that there is no chance of us using blood that can transmit a disease. Giving blood is a wonderful thing to do. You are giving someone else the chance of life!

I'm usually a regular blood donor but I was refused last month due to my blood pressure being raised.
I find it strange that so many are fearful of infections when donating blood when obviously, every possible precaution is taken to protect the donor as well as the recipient.

Hello Flowfire, I donated blood many years ago and a few days after I would get tired and I would take a nap this lasted for about a month or so. Before donating my blood I would rarely if at all take a nap that's for people over 50 I would say too myself. But after the blood donation I needed a nap almost every day until my body fully recovered from the blood donation. Now I don't know if it was because of my HBP or what but since then I haven't given my blood I did not like the way I felt afterward, so for now I will keep my blood and only share it when I get a cut or a nose bleed lol, God bless.

I thought of donating blood when I was younger.I was scared at the thought of getting infected by AIDS or other infectious in blood donation.Though the odd is little,we cant afford it,right? The second thing I concern in blood donation is that my health will be worse after that. One of my workmate said she sometimes feels dizzy after blood donation when she was unmarried.Considering all,I think I'd better not donate blood for the sake of my own health.

I've given blood donations for years and know that the place where I give is extremely safety conscious. Every donation is tested before it's used.

In countries where health sanitation is not that good or well there is really a risk of getting infected of any diseases or virus. The needle that they might use could be infected. The blood that will be transfused to you might be infected.
The dizzy feeling is a usual effect after donating blood. There are some who doesn't feel that too. He/she should rest and sit down for a while before he/she moves or stand up and walk.
Yes, blood donation helps because your old blood cells will be replace by new and fresh ones. And in the first place the doctor will not allow you to donate blood if you are not in good health.
Blood donation is not a bad idea. It's a good idea, contrary to what you said. Not, only that you help others but it also helps you. But of course you have to make sure that it is safe.
I have donated my blood once and I am planning to donate my blood again this coming month of August. I've been doing exercise and eating fruits and vegetable to keep my body healthy.

Yes, I have donated blood. We have to go through an interview and have our blood pressure and iron checked to make sure we can give. Weight is also an issue for giving blood as is age. There have been times when they won't let me give because my blood pressure has been too high or my iron too low. The nurses always wear gloves, which they change with each donation, and our donation kit is sterile and pre-rapped, therefore safety isn't an issue for me.

I am all for giving blood, although every time I’ve tried I have not been able to. I don’t believe the health risks are that great. If they were, it would not be so encouraged. These are lives that are being saved. I don’t think the risk is that great because they would be risking more lives asking people to donate when they are trying to save lives. That just doesn’t make sense to me. It is such an easy thing to do…I don’t see why more people don’t. Being dizzy is not as bad as almost dying because people wouldn't give their blood.

I havent' donated blood either. And yes, there are check ups performed before you can donate blood. And still true, donating blood helps refreshes the blood inside our body. Though, the risk would apply.
The reason I haven't donated blood is because, I knew I would fail the check ups. I'm not that healthy to donate blood.

I have donated once to my friend and I think its okay for me. We were told that its nice donating blood to others and also it is also helping the donors. From our group of 5 friends, I am the oldest and yet I was the only qualified to be a donor I dont felt bad after and I am willing to donate to the needy. Of course in hospitals where donations usually takes place has some healthy measures for getting bllod from donors.

Blood donation is one way that we could extend our help to other people. I haven't tried it yet though, but I think it's a good thing.
In my own opinion, I think getting AIDS in blood donation is only possible if the clinic or the tools used such as the IUD or injection is not sterilized properly. There are doctors and nurses that would interview you before you'll be donating blood, they'll ask questions like, do you smoke, have you eaten, did you drink for the past 2 weeks etc etc. because they do want to check your health first and the blood you're donating before you can udergo the process.
Maybe the girl you're pertaining to has a low weight, or tired when she donated her blood. All the people I know who donated their blood rests a lot after they've gone through it. dizziness is a part of it xD
You should try gaining weight if you're lighter than 45kg O.O It's not healthy. :( May you have a healthy life! happy mylotting :)

Donating your blood is a magnanimous act.Sad to say I haven't done it,not because I don't want to give (my blood type is very needed here in my country because it is kinda rare) but my lifestyle and weight will not allow me to donate. All the fears about donating blood can be prevented if you will donate to the right institutions or hospitals that will not recycle the things used in blood donation.
