I'm also an avid reader. I spent my childhood years and teenage years with my nose buried in books. I remember when I was young, instead of buying toys, I'd buy books. And when I was in my teenage years, instead of shopping for clothes and whatever girls shop for, you'd find me in my favorite bookstore looking for books to buy.
I have a lot of books in our previous house but I don't count them. I don't think I'd be able to anyway :)

Oh yeah! I remember in high school, we were having this flag ceremony and it was time for the special announcements, they have this award, I wasn't paying attention then because I never won any kind of awards in school so I really didn't care. The next thing I knew I heard my name and everyone was as dumbstruck as I was. The award was: Best Book Borrower.
Can you imagine the humiliation I felt? lol! It's like officially announcing you the biggest geek. They made me walk on the stage, in front of hundreds of students, to receive the friggin' award.

I love to read and I read many books every month. I have collection of books in my home, but I don't buy a lot of books. Most of the books that I read I borrow at the library. It would get far too expensive if I had to buy every book that I wanted to read, so the best solution for me is to borrow the books. I like to read many different kinds of books, and I read fiction as well as non-fiction. I like to read novels, short stories, poems and I read books about travelling, psychology, psychiatry, art etc.

I love to read, although my current homelife, does not allow me to collect books. I always have a book in my purse, an audiobook in my car, and an e-book on my computer.
My current addiction, aside from actually reading, is talking about books, which I indulged at www.goodreads.com. Great place to hang out with fellow readers.
Right now, for the month of April, I've finished 11 books. I usually averaged between 15 -18 books in a month, depending on time and type of books.

I love reading but do not collect books.
I used to buy a lot of books. But ironically I did not have a sense of urgency in reading the books I bought. Some books were in my shelf for 3 years and I had not finished reading them.
But I finished those books I borrow from the library within a few days. The library is within walking distance from my place, so there is no need to buy books.
I read an average of 3 books per week. Some books are very thin, those simplified version of the how-to books. Some are very long and thick. Some are coffee table books with a lot of large colorful pictures and few words.
I can't imagine life without reading. Even a day without book is unbelievable.
