Have been seeing a lot of discussions about the recent changes at Ciao; it is good that the site made an announcement to that effect...
Here is the announcement from the Ciao Member Center for those that are not able to log in to avoid any further speculation about the site being a SCAM
'Restricted Access to Ciao
Dear members,
Due to the high level of abuse on the site including plagiarism, spamming of members, and revenge ratings, Ciao.com has decided to start restricting membership to certain countries. We have tried to avoid this outcome, but the number of violations has become too great. Although we realize not all members from the now-banned countries were responsible for these problems, and in fact there were many excellent members from these regions, we have found this to be the best and only remaining way to effectively manage the situation.

Members from these banned countries who are otherwise in good standing will still receive any money owed to them. If they have yet to make a payment request, they can contact us at info@ciao.com and we will make the request for them.
We will continue to delete plagiarized and abusive content from the site; please send us abuse reports if you find evidence of a violation of our Terms and Conditions.
Thank you.
– The Ciao Community Team'
I suppose this was a drastic measure but I agree that the number of violations had become too great and I posted a discussion relating to that recently...
Like other sites have done, Ciao is free to amend their Terms & Conditions and have done so..
So, if members from the banned countries had genuine reviews and were not abusing the site(as some have informed here), you can still request money owed and the rest should consider those earnings forefeited!
Does this clear it up for you? My take on the situation is that the site did what it had to do to stay afloat... What's your take on the situation?

If people still choose to go through trick methods to access the site then that is their waste of time...
Why would they pay a member whose access has been restricted? They shall only be banned and their earnings forefeited so a waste of time

According to their announcement members from the banned country can still request payment
That is for payments before the ban; i.e. March earnings..

Thanks for the info. This is what was required from CIAO team, at least to announce something. Now that it is very clear that many of the ASIAN countries are banned. This is really a shame for ASIANS, that most of the sites donot allow them. If you see many survey sites are also not for ASIANS. This sounds that what is the reputations of ASIANS in eyes of other countries. But I strictly believe that scans are done by other countries and regions as well other than ASIA, but are low compared to ASIANS. But I really feel sad that ASIANS will no longer to use CIAO, because of this, which would in turn be a good place to share knowledge and earn. I hope that this things does not gets repeated with other sites which are allowing ASIANS.

It's all in the above statement... Infact it does not say 'Asian' countries anywhere, it just so happens that many of the banned countries are 'Asian', if you get my drift...
I for one can only take Ciao UK and Dooyoo as examples, I see less abuse on these sites as they restrict their memberships to certain countries and even then a site with fewer number of members is easier to manage than an international site with millions & with cheats among those millions churning fake reviews daily

LOL =D Yeah, i have known about this restriction from a few mylot members.. And i'm glad that ciao is finally taking actions on those ple whom meant to abuse the whole system by writing rubbish for their reviews.. haha =D
Too bad for those legit users though, it means that they have to give up on ciao after they have requested their very last payout from them.. Sad to say, but it's still sorry to see those legit users being banned just because of some useless and selfish abusers in there..

I have only submitted a few reviews to Ciao but I have received a number of messages from people trying to become friends and get me to rate their reviews. I was not comfortable with this at all. It is unfortunate that these aggressive persons could not just let everyone enjoy the site.

True, that happens alot and there's still a lot of fake reviews despite the recent bans...
I don't accept any friend requests anymore as there's a lot of spamming going on!

I do not understand what you mean Tina83? Can you explain it? Do you mean your friend has recently requested payment and been asked for ID? what do you mean by 'receipts'?
