Optimists Hope for More and Aren't Thrown by Less...is it so?

Actually an optimist is not the one that hopes more, but he who believes in the materialization of his aspirations and dreams. Therefore there is no such chance that he would be thrown by less. Even if he gets less in return of his optimistic approach he does not lose heart. Less denotes small amount and an optimist would never grumble as to what he/she has got out of his/her efforts. This is rather a relentless approach that he/she would go on clinging until the goal is reached. Besides less in quantity , though many are of the opinions that, upsets the person is a baseless thing. What do you thing about this issue? Rajib. 18.04.09

Remember the chines proverb: "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness." Being positive is important to achieve something and the foundation of true progress. We can only succeed at almost anything if we have limitless enthusiasm. We should count our blessings even how little it may be.

hello Rajib! Agree to you and will say Optimism is not bad and there is no chance that an Optimist would be thrown by less. I am an optimist too and believes every good thing will happen sooner or later but not an "Eternal Optimist" either. Things are not going to change by itself but it has to be made to happen and thus it will. You know i was expecting this Question from someone if not sooner or later i would put it for discussion myself.

ahh! Its feel always good when your response is appreciated as a nice one Thanks. And you have snatched my topic to put it with a perfection and i was eagerly waiting for your comment too as this is the topic i always wanted to discuss with others. The reason is i feel not good whenever i see someone thinking negative and Unfortunately there are a lot. I don't see any reason why people give up their hopes and i just hate them.

What is good should always appreciated and specially I do regardless to who has/have done it. And for the negative mindset is just rubbish I say for it would lead you no where.

Hi there, sorry that I snatched your discussion topic.lol. Yes that is best said that one should be optimist but not an eternal optimist. We have to make things happen for they do not always happen their own. Nice elaboration. Thanks for responding.

Wow, what a fabulous topic. You have worded it so well. I do believe that 'Optimists hope for emore and aren't thrown by less' (I love that line)' but it does not mean they are never thrown by less...it all depends on just how little less is, lol. I believe myself to be an optimist and most around me would agree. You seem to be a very optimistic person. Thank you for starting a great discussion.

Hello imaginearea, thanks for the compliment. Secondly, it probably differs from person to person. I mean an optimist may not be always happy with less and another may take it easy and thrive for more and there is a saying that if you are there stuck for some time you would get at at least a morsel. Thanks for responding.

Suppose there is a glass of water on the table. Will you stare at the empty part which is not filled or will you look at the water existed?I regard myself an optimist cuz I always seem to concern about the water I can drink.lol And as you said,I believe in the materialization of my aspirations and dreams, though it may take years.lol Happy mylotting!

Yes that is the difference between an optimist and a pessimist. While the optimist looks at the water and the optimist would look at the empty part and goes despaired that life is like an empty glass.lol Thanks for the nice cliche.

I was brought up by a very pessimistic mother and she is still like that today! I grew up with the same habit until I decided that there definitely is a better way of looking at things and it works! Whenever something negative happens I allow myself the feelings associated with the incident because it is not healthy to deny negative emotions and after a reasonable time I force myself to look at how much worse it could have been and given a little more time, I usually begin to feel better. The same positive principle applies in order to reach my goals; if I don't take my eyes off the ball, it's bound to come my way sooner or later! So, having said all that, I would say that I am somewhat of an optimist, negative wrong with expecting the worst while hoping for the best!

Hi Paula, I go with you that the negative emotion which are termed sometime the pessimistic way too needs to be dealt with as they come up. But they are there for some time and you turn your head towards the positive side and you look at this to embrace to come your way and you are a different person altogether. Too much of optimism too is not healthy for there is a chance that it led you to the negative chemicals once you are off the track. Thnks

i am an optimist. i don,t hope more but i believe that what is going to be happended, it will produce a good result. it may be a bitter one, but it will be a good lesson for me to survive in future. don,t think that, that was the last way to achieve your goal, but u just have failed. there are so many way to find our goal. try to find out it. have a nice day.

Well Shibhom you are striving hard to come of the cocoon. And as you are an optimist you will surely make it to.

I am an optimist. It doesn't bother me to get less than I hoped for because it's more than I started out with. I believe everything happens for a reason and is an opportunity for learning. If I fall and break my leg it has probably saved me from being in a horrible car accident. Misfortunes are just blessings in disguise! The motto that I live by is "never give up, never give in" and this helps me to persevere and overcome any obstacle.

Hello my friend krajibg Ji, An optimistic always thinks in positiveness. Anything in that direction will boost the indivudual's morale and there is a saying, "drops, drops makes occean". So one day all dreams would be full-filled. May God bless you and have a great time.

Hi Rajib...An optimist doesnt have to hope for more. A true optimist knows that sooner or later, what they want to achieve will happen. THey realize there are bumps along the way and take them in stride. They only see the positive things because they are focused on them. As long as anything at all is achieved through their efforts, they remain optimistic. Doesnt matter if the achievement is big or small, its still a positive thing to carry on the optimism. Did I confuse you yet?

Hi Sands, So philosophical you sound here. Very nicely elaborated the point. What is the size of the achievement is all secondary and what is important is the positive out look and he/she makes the best of all optimist. very well said.

I have always thought of an optimist as one who chooses to see the bright side in life. The glass half full, the silver lining in clouds, etc. Optimists are eternally hopeful whether because of or in spite of I cannot say.

Hi Canellita, yes, optimists are the ones who are not easily upset even if their mission fails once or twice . They rather try to learn from their mistakes. thanks for the response.
