I have been saving my change for almost 6 months now. I don't spend any of it. At the end of the day, I put all my change into a large jar. When it gets full, or almost full, I role it. Yes, I role it, the old fashioned way. I know that if I cash it in, I will spend it. Who wants to haul around a bunch of roles of coins, not me! I now have $525.00 saved in change. It doens't sound like much but it does add up. If I ever have an emergency then I will have it to cash in but for now, I love watching it grow. I use my ATM card mostly anymore so it isn't adding up as fast as it use to but it is still fun collecting it. Ocassionally I even buy my kids change.

I have a piggy bank in our house. I fill it with all the loose change that's left in my pocket everyday, coins and bills alike. I think it's half filled already. I plan to open it on Christmas time to buy something for my wife and my mom. Then after that, next year I plan to get two piggy banks and would try to fill them all up with money. And then, I'll deposit that to my ATM account for some extra savings.

My original plan was to save it for X-Mas and I will probably still do that. I have 6 kids so it won't go far but it seems at the end of the year I am broke. This should help. I will only cash it in early if something major happens. So far I have been lucky enough to come up with the money I have needed. Way to go. You have a great plan.
