There are plenty of exercises and stretches he can do. I get a fair bit of back pain so I can understand what your husband is feeling. I don't let it stop me from going to work though, because I'd never work if that were the case. Acupuncture can really help, I had a bit of that when I was about 17 and it did wonders, only I could not afford to keep going back for more which is a shame because it was the best thing for the pain I was having. I currently use ibuprofen to kill the pain, but really try not to take it every day as that will create an addiction. If it's really bad I will take either ibuprofen or codeine, but try to only once or twice a week at the absolute most.

Yes, I quite agree with you. I have been suffering from back pain since two years ago when I have to fininsh my work in front of the computer. I spent most of my day sitting ,which is murder on my back. Acupuncture really helps me stand up to back pain.Studies have shown that walking can relieve the back pain. I insist on walking at least haf an hour everyday.

I have chronic back pain that I have to live with and the best way to deal with it is by taking Ibuprofen 600mg every 4-6 hours. Alternating cold and hot packs. Then he needs to see a doctor as soon as he can. Hope this helps!!

Oh you don't take the ibuprofen every day do you? Just be careful if you do, as you may end up addicted to pain killers.

I take over the counter and my husband is a psychologist with a medical degree and Ibuprofen is not addictive is has nothing in it that can cause the neurons in your bring to become addictive to the senors in your brain. The only thing that you have to be worried about with Ibuprofen is that you should alternate between it and Acetametaphine (like Tylenol) because Ibuprofen is digested through your stomache and the other is through your liver that way you so not have any chance of getting stomache ulcers or damaging your liver.

I suffer from back pain a lot as I have something called hypermobility syndrome. I have to wear a support belt and I have very strong pain-killers which were prescribed for me. I also find the heat packs you put in the microwave are a great as well. I also have to do back exercises.

My constant back pain is so severe it is very difficult for me to do any physical work. I can't even walk to the end of my driveway without feeling intense pressure in my back. If I try to work, I can do it for about two or three minutes. Then, I MUST sit down until my back relaxes, usually in about 10-15 minutes. After that, I can work again. Medication doesn't work at all. Braces and hot packs make things even worse. Physical therapy exercises make it easier to move, but only if I do them twice a day for a long period of time. So, I am just enduring the pain and sitting down as often as I need to.
